CCP Veritas introduces Dojos concept.

http://evenews24.com/2014/09/25/ccp-veritas-introduces-dojos/

Basically, 1v1 pvp matchmaking.

I have been calling for this for a long time.

To all the trolls who said Its not going to happen, bad for game, etc etc etc - BOOM HEADSHOT!

1. No more blobbing
2. No more neutral logi/falcon alts

The only question is, how will links be working with this. Should be also eliminated somehow.

How weak minded must you be to enjoy so much that you were right ...

Congratulations! You nailed it ONCE! ... Maybe.

Gotta read this now...

Okay, so Alliance Tournament style matches on Duality.
And it's NOT matchmaking.

Let's hear the peoples voice .....

And for some reason this announcement was made via 3rd party "news" site. Right.

I have mixed feelings.

Sure, it sounds like a fun time - log in, jump right into PvP, blow people up, log out.

And since the DoJo thingy has to be stocked, I assume with things bought off the market (I may have missed any specifics on this in the article), it's not precisely consequence free PvP, though it doesn't sound like the participants necessarily lose anything of their own, just the ships they took from the Dojo. So that's ok.

But part of me squirms just a little bit because it reminds me of the battlegrounds idea from Wow, which is, if memory serves from listening to the wife talk about them, the only way to have PvP on a non-PvP server.

While I applaud the idea of this for setting up things like in corp tournaments or ad-hoc competitions between alliances, I sincerely hope (in the event it ever reaches TQ) it doesn't suddenly become the rallying cry for those that want to take the PvP completely out of highsec. "But you have Dojos! Use those and leave us alone!"

That wouldn't be good for the overall game.

On the other hand, if it never leaves the test servers, I don't care what they do with it.

Sounds good to me, but I doubt it will make it to TQ, based purely on the fact that the fight takes place in a deadspace pocket that cannot be found by any means. People will likely cry foul over un-probeable ships, and claim it goes against the sandbox.

*edit*: CCP needs to make sure that mining barges can fit into the Dojo as well, so CODE won't be left out of the fun.

So long as it stays on the test sever I don't mind.

Well....

If it's on TQ ...
... in space ...
... but can not be reached by other players during a fight ...

Wow.... *throws **** at a fan*

If it stays in test server what's the point of wasting time for it. If it's supposed to come to TQ as safe e-honor bubble it's most stupid idea ever.

You realize, don't you, that the mechanics for removing PvP from high-sec are already in place? I've always wondered if there was a hidden longer-term use for the safety switch.

I stand corrected, simply missed it, thank you.

But it's still stupid idea just as duels are.

It will not. Slowly but surely, in 3-4-6 months it will be polished up and deployed into the game. It better be anyways :)

The reason is simple and financial in nature - a lot of people, such as myself, dont have time or desire to log in and look for hours and hours on end for pew in null sec. Eliminate this problem, make pew accessible, and BAM, more people play the game.

You are looking at it wrong, i remember me and you had a discussion on this a few months back in some thread.

You think this will draw people from null and low back to high-sec and reduce content for null and low dwellers.

I think it will instead re-energize people that otherwise dont do much so dont contribute to content anyways.

Like me, Im spinning in my C6 POS, and honestly i have better things to do then spend hours scanning the chain looking for exit to Provi - the last place to have good pew. Sure I go occasionally to pew, but not that often anymore.

These dojos, I would log in, click on the dojo, and effortlessly find pew. For me, its brilliant.

This path will kill EVE just as it has killed every other game that did it.

So says you. I say otherwise.

Time will tell whether it will be the last nail in the coffin, or will add another 3-4 years to the clock.

That problem was eliminated years ago when they introduced Factional Warfare. And improved when they refined static complexes. You can find cheap, fast and fun PvP (even solo) within minutes.

I don't have an opinion about "dojos", just wanted to point out that players should actually explore what the game already offers before talking about "problems".

Given that no game has ever managed to add arenas without having them kill off all other forms of pvp in the game I would say we know with 100% certainty what will happen.
