RCU and Co-processor speculation?

Corp mate wants to buy a couple of my stockpiles of mission loot - specifically, meta RCUs and Co-processors - at about double current market prices. No interest in the T1 versions. He won't say why (because he's a bit of a jerk).

I don't recall seeing any upcoming changes in F&ID which would explain his interest, and I'm understanbly curious (or maybe suspicious).

Anyone care to cast some light on possibilities?

well there's a module rebalance coming that has been hinted at for a while

not sure when exactly, but with the price of salvage these days it seems reasonable
to stockpile them on a hunch

Hinted, yeah. That was a while ago, though. Fanfest, wasn't it? No further details since then, right?

It took CCP years to rebalance the ships, and there are at least as many different modules as ships. So, I think it takes more than a hunch to buy up and stockpile any specific type of modules. My corp mate, in particular, doesn't think that far ahead.

Ah, well... I just thought someone here might have seen something posted somewhere - something that I missed reading.

They're calling it Module Tiericide. I'm assuming this means they want to make each module useful/have specific benefits in some way (like they did with the ships) rather than the current system where higher meta named modules always have better stats and lower fitting requirements than lower meta ones and are worth more.

This might mean that some of them have better stats but higher fitting requirements, whilst others have lower stats but much lower fitting requirements, one turret module might have higher a optimal than all the others but do less damage for example, basically every module should have a use/niche to fill rather them being progressively better in every way than the previous meta.

I'm not much of a speculator but this might mean that some of the lower meta named modules end up being much more useful / viable than they are currently. Like some of the ships that were near useless before Tiericide are now seeing some use.

If you watch the recent (released on the 24th) video, they did mention that RCUs and co-pros are being rebalanced.

Woo! CSM XI!

Ah, thank you!

I don't usually watch the videos - it usually takes them 3-5 minutes to say something that can be read from a dev blog or F&ID post in about 15-30 seconds.

Hmm...it seems to me that T1 modules need to be rebalanced first, before diddling with the metas.

They need to fix some T2 Modules as well. Certain ones have worse stats than the Meta Versions and there is literally no point in using the t2 version.

I like the fact they are finally clearing the modules up at last, will definitely have an impact on the market.

The Oceanus patch notes seem pretty clear too.

Oh my, it is going to be a profitable few months. I thought my sell order prices were hysterically high and now I see that they weren't nearly high enough.

It is too late to speculate on those module groups. Look to the future.

So, prices are indeed going up, due to speculation.

But, I think that the more significant effect is going to be crashing the prices of the rarer high metas, once they are merged into the consolidated pool of the single meta.

Probably a good time to clean the hanger....

You might want to consider planning to sell off the currenlty higher-value high metas, in all cases where (a) there are a lot of cheap low metas for the same module, and (b) it is likely that CCP will collapse them all into a single meta. The abundance of those low metas in the mix will cause the value of those high metas to come crashing down.

I just noticed that the Micro 'Vigor' Core Augmentation MAPCs will be turned into Navy MAPCs, and Navy MAPCs are more plentiful and thus much cheaper than Vigors. If you haven't sold them off yet, you should try to do so this weekend before Oceanus goes live.
