Succubus and Phantasm

Re balance went bad.
Ideas how those hulls can be improved?

Better cap, more dps, bit more power grid?
Those ships look grate, but you won't find them on field.
Ideas?

Hint.
Make devs put on Phantasm AB 100 and AB 10 on Succubus ( most of the people hoped for this to make those ships usable , and then try to maneuver a bit)

Those ships need agility bonus per level.

Is there a possibility to make ship traits to be affected by more than 2 races?

Sansha is assimilating engineers from all races.

Ever tried oversized ABs on other ships? Their agility is horrible as well.
I tried a 10MN AB on a Venture. Max speed of 2.5k, could barely orbit at 4k with 1.3k m/s

Just use normal sized prop mods, and the agility is decent

On first glance, Sansha ships looked really great but after flying Phantasm for a while I cant see its use. Its slower on AB than other shield tankers on MWD, and only slightly faster than armour ones. It's speed with AB can't be used for tanking, as with bad tracking laser it won't hit aything either. It's not a bad ship but if u would scrapped it's AB bonus it would not change the ship in any drastic way (it might be even better with mwd).

Solution? Hard to say really. First to my mind comes an 30%AB bonus but it will only be useful for chasing kiting ships and mitigating their dmg. Or just change sansha ships to missile boats, as this is a weapon system that synergizes well with AB fitted ships.

Adding launchers and bonus to missile could be also good salvation for this ship hull.
So we get ship capable to mount 3 lasers or 3 missile launchers.
But i think no one will go this way.


As for "phantasm is fine" - simply: You are wrong.

Benefits of AB :
1 scrambling do not disables your prop module
2 no signature increase

Now lets look on phantasm AB 10 vs MWD 10 T1 Cruiser .
1. Phantasm AB 10 is slower than T1 MWD cruiser , so it can be easily approached , pointed , and webed - Hint : your bonus from AB is almost totally gone.
2. Signature of AB 10 phantasm is still big , as this is shield ship. This T1 Cruiser can easily hit you using med size weapons.

AB 10 is not viable propulsion platform for this ship , it do not give any benefit against MWD 10 T1 cruisers equipped in webs.

Armor phantasm possible , but then again T1 cruisers will out dps you , and still tackle easily.
Current ship hull still don't have any good role , even a niche one.

Remember that AB 100 takes time to accelerate , so granting agility bonus , will not make this ship OP.
You will still be tackled by a ceptor, and range of your guns block you from sniping while at the same time you can be easily sniped by railgun or missile based platforms.

You're overcomplicating it. Just bump the damage bonus percentages up and leave it at that.

Both ships are fine, stop trying to fit oversized ABs and your problem will be solved. As for them being slower than equivalent ships with MWDs, they make up for it with unscrammability. Also, get snakes

Well when I built my succubus the reality is this vs frigate sized targets.

I'm not catching a MWD target

I'm not kiting a scram/web brawler.



What it excels at, however, it shooting things bigger than it. It's death by 1000 cuts to be fair, but it works exceptionally well for that.

You are fighting the wrong fights. Try Scram kiting with that Succubus. No other frigate aside from a Daredevil or maybe a Cruor should be able to stop you from Scram kiting with Scorch. Also, fitted with a deadspace AB you should be hitting over 3km/s overheated which is plenty to slingshot MWD frigates. You are probably using it wrong - or quoting Steve Jobs - "You are holding it wrong".

It is extremely squishy with a web though. The rail ships can and will kill you, drone ships will kill you and your DPS is a hair too low for you to plink them down reliably.

I'm disregarding the enemy making piloting errors as one must assume evenly matched pilot ability.

I mean, they're okay but the other pirate ships are a lot better.

You are looking at numbers plainly. Also 7k EHP isn't squishy when you are avoid most of the enemies DPS. You should be able to orbit at 8km and apply your full 155 DPS just fine. You could always switch to Conflag and keep at range at a closer range for a punishing 241 DPS against rail boats. It really isn't bad.

the problem i had when comparing the phantasm too the other faction ships/HAC's is mainly summed up by ..

- price
- range
- speed
-dps
- versatility

i basically looked at the ashimmu and thought ..

-price is similar
-dps/range is pretty similar .
-speed is similar mwd vs AB
- ashimmu has ranged webs offers more versatility and options

then ishtar/ VNI offer other more powerful options

bottom line is the AB boesnt make it worth using when
A- i can use an ashimmu too slow targets down and use mwd too keep range
B - if i want too brawl or snipe the ishtar/VNI/T1 bc's are better
C - Omen navy is better in kiting role

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Nerf web strength, Make the blaster Eagle worth using

Yes, it's not bad - it's not 'pirate' good either.

Hell you can fit a simple Tristan for 7k EHP, 156dps at scram range.


A modest damage increase would go a long way to helping it imo. Doesn't need to be huge.

perhaps with a tracking buff and a full set of lights it could be used as an anti support/frig killer .. could use a smaller sig radius aswell too take full advantage of the AB .. when shield fitted its too big..

I still think they are fine. A lone Phantasm or Succubus might not be the best but in a fleet they can really come through. I see their sweet spot being around the 8km range where they will outdps blasters thanks to being in optimal range. Yes there are better ships but I can see where they would be better than other vessels. An exanple is when fighting frigs as transversal can be reduced to 0 as the ab speed of the phantasm is similar to the ab speed of most frigs when fighting bogger vessels it is also powerful as it can keep high transversal even at scrambler range. The DPS output is also fine. 550 dps with lasers is not low by any means. Perhaps what it needed waa more mid slots in exchange for lows.

also with webs being so powerful it really kills its main use which is under scram range .. that and its dps is still quite low for close range fighting and it needs better tracking with lasers being poor tracking too begin with ..
