Hello, I have been playing eve since early 2009, I have ran missions/incursions/nullsec and also mining and I seem to not make much isk. Always sitting around with 200-400m watching it decrease for pvp reasons. I want to try trading, but have no idea where to even start..is there a corporation I can join, or a group to teach me?

You actually won't find a group or corporation to do "market ops" or something like that. Trading is really a solo activity and extremely seldom a trader will tell you many details, but will speak generally usually.

If you have no idea, just start by reading some guides. There are not many, but there are some on this subject that will get you started. The rest is experience and putting your mind to work.

It won't make you instantly billions though. You might be still sitting around 200-400m until it takes off for you and expect to invest a reasonable amount of time.

They told me to mine... and I started to mine, the market ;)

Buy low and sell high.

At this point it almost seems like people are being mean when they use this as the reply to a beginner asking for advice. There's a reason though, it really is the one rule and the only thing that matters. It can manifest itself in a number of ways, ranging from diligent exploitation in the difference between buy and sell orders up through speculation before an expansion or patch. As a beginner your bread and butter is going to be arbitrage of the buy/sell price gap. There's nothing fancy and there's no trickery.

Ilinea's recommendation of consulting guides is as good as you're likely to get in the MD without a more specific question. Because I'm so nice here is the link to a collection of useful threads for all types of trading questions.

We need a very basic guide stickying, there's been at least one of these threads a day for the last couple of weeks...

Common sense really, learn the trade skills to reduce costs and increase the number of positions you can have open. Buy things cheap, sell them for more...

Damn nature, you scary!

The "Market Discussion Resources" is already stickied and contains a link to the wiki article which I linked on the trading article compilation. It is odd that so many basic questions do show up despite this. If it is because people don't take the time to look then there's not much we can do.

Or people could actually take the effort to filter through a couple pages of Market Discussions.

To the OP, read the above line. There are already several mini guides that have been posted.

Or better yet, send me 100 mil isk and I'll link you the specific threads that will answer your question.

Or even better yet, send me 1 bil isk and I'll package the threads up into one neat little reading bundle.

Wait ! Just one more thing! Send me 1.5 bil plus a .5 bil processing fee and I'll throw in an eve edition shamwow and slapchop as long as supplies last.
