Compared to 12 months ago average player numbers online has declined from 36,000 to 25000-28000. It would seem eve is in a decline as it gets older.

Is there a recent drive behind the numbers of players loosing interest in eve perhaps elite dangerous multiplayer beta with its promise of more solar systems and a less restrictive playstyle.

or are there other issues and what can ccp do to pull this decline back

We had 39k users yesterday ... until the big disconnect hit.

So ... no .... you just talk crap and they should ban your candy ass.

I predict a lock.

the battlecruiser nerf no doubt has something to do with at leasat the partial decline, some of the improvements are good but on the ohter hand. Nerfing low sec and some parts of 00 and the recent moves to boost high sec are having an effect

Well... it is still summer too. The online player count tends to suffer a bit until bad weather starts to roll through the northern hemisphere.

edit: also... online player count =/= actual subscribers... the latter of which is the real measure of a game's health.

edit2: looking through some of those numbers, they seem to be relatively equal. Sure... there is a dip during the summer... but again... it's summer.

Clearly the solution here is bringing back the loot spew mechanics that was recently removed. Explorers have been crying about it ever since they removed it.

We also need to BUFF highsec and make nullsec highly unlivable and make sure concord shows up every time someone locks someone up.

yes the ease of high sec ganking is an issue, leave high sec and buff low sec is the key. The loot spew mechancis should be reimbursed also. Null sec is fine. Ease of access between low and high is easonable esp with wh mechanics

Sarcasm and average, two words you're clearly unfamiliar with.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

While I agree with some of your points it is in my humble opinion that nullsec should be nerfed. Make bounties only give 5% of what they are currently giving out and make highsec incursions drop revenant BPC's everytime the mom is popped and have all sansha ships drop deadspace and officer mods everytime they pop. We also need to make nullsec accessible via wormholes and nothing else. Of course only C1 holes will connect to nullsec. Also make pirate NPC's in nullsec have a cynojammer up every time.

CONCORD on the other hand needs more buffs. If someone is suicide ganking an innocent ship they should bring logistics to repair the said ship and make response times 0 seconds. We also need to make sure highsec is safe so all -10.0 players will be perma banned from EVE for being evil despicable psychopaths in real life that would kick puppies for profit. Also make shooting someone in highsec incur bigger sec status hits like - 3.0 sec status hits for locking up someone.

Can we all agree that Elite: Dangerous fanbois should be called 'Elite D-bags'?

The ones that wanna make EVE be moar like Elite, yes.

People who enjoy both games for each one's unique offerings? No.

Considering I can't keep my accounts logged in for more than a couple hours at a time without disconnects for months now this is no surprise to me.

Simple equation, more leave then are coming in. But hey, still no reason to improve the new player experience.

Stale content is stale. With no big battles or "emergent" player created content CCP has nothing to promote. At some point they will have to create something on their own...but let's not look at that track record.

So stand by for improved visuals of current content and more items for the store (which consists of improved visuals for current content).

One day does not a weekly average make. And, yes, I too have noticed a decline. I think the stat on this is eight percent. Such numbers do matter to businesses. An eight percent decline in usage is a matter for great concern.

I predict it will continue as the people with low intelligence, short attention spans and sociopathic tendencies are catered to by management at the expense of the more tenacious (with greater earning power) and dedicated gamers who like to think, and plan. . . with a longer sense of time span. 'T is the way of things. EVE is not immune.
