Hi,

Perhaps I was confused in the heat of combat, but I could have sworn that despite being warp scrambled, my microwarp drive was working. I was also webbed and for perhaps one minute, I still moved at half the expected speed. I'm imagining something or the drive is not shut down if scrambled by NPCs? Weird...

npc's use disruptor's, not scrams , this means you should be able to use a micro warp

If I remember correctly, NPCs seldom warp scramble (as in the warp scrambler module), no matter what the UI says. It is usually just warp disruption, keeping you from warping off. I'm not sure what effect this has on the number of "points" on you for purposes of warp core stabilizers.

oooh, I just learnt that the warp disruptor IS NOT shutting down microwarp drive! I thought that warp interdicted = no microwarp. Nice and important subtlety for me to know, thanks.

Yup. Warp disruption that does not shut down your MWD is actually the rule, not the exception. Warp disruption from NPCs, from warp disruptor modules, from a warp disruption field (bubble), from an interdictor's or heavy interdictor's bubble, or from a heavy interdictor's "focused" warp disruption, does not shut off MWDs. The exception is players' warp scramblers, which do shut down MWDs and play a fairly big role in PvP because of it.

Also, while on the topic of MWDs, I should point out: just because you can use a MWD does not mean you should use a MWD. MWDs grow your ship's signature radius five-fold, making you a much easier target to hit for anyone shooting at you. The speed only sort of compensates for that, and then only when you're moving perpendicular to their line of fire (which is not that often). Take care!

Warp interdiction = disabling warp speed flight not any form of sub lightspeed flight.

Warp disruptor:
Longer range
1 warp interdiction point.

Warp scrambler.
Shorter range.
2 warp interdiction point.
Disables MWD and MJD.

I think the only NPC that warp scramble are the new burner mission NPC.

These are extremely tough NPC, that even bittervets have difficulty with:

Don't worry. They are optional level 4 missions. Bear

I was just going to point this out.... I thought some burner NPC's will scramble your ship and disable your MWD, but haven't tested it myself.

All of these [burner mission] NPCs use warp disruption, and most of them use scramblers that turn off microwarpdrives the same way player scramblers do.
