Where can I go to begin voice chatting with other players?

I see eve has an in-game voice system - a lot of people say negative things about it, I know.

I don't mind using 3rd party software or in game software. I just want some other players to chat with.

I'm waiting days to hear back from a corp I applied to. I don't even know if I'll like them once I'm in. I asked another corp if I could join them on voip and they said yes, then left the chat without giving me the teamspeak info.

So yeah. Any public chat rooms out there? Or a private one willing to let me check it out.

Might be time to look at other corps, or you may just need to poke them again. Recruiters get burnt out and let things slide and they may just need a reminder that you are waiting. It's a common problem as screening and interviewing can be distinctly unfun, and these people also want to spend time playing the game.

Ask politely if they've had a chance to look at your app and if there's any follow up information you could send them. Check if they have a public chat channel (text). Many corps will have one for you to hang out in while your app is pending and get to know the members. Also if voice communication is important to you make sure you ask if they use it before you get too deep into the app process, to help you screen for a good fit. Most corporations that use voice comms will include at least a brief interview / voice chat in their app process so they can get to know you and vice-versa. It's important for both parties - I've interviewed people who seemed normal via written word but turned out to be absolutely bonkers or unbearably obnoxious on comms.

Check out this guide for other tips on finding the right corp for you and don't get too hung up on the first group you find if they are moving too slowly or it doesn't seem like a good fit for you.

The channel Help Chat-Reloaded could be a good place.

People arent always on EVE voice but often when you ask people jump on just to small chat, and if nothing else the channel is rarely quiet so there is always company.

Think like the official help channel except its moderated by players and more small chatter when there is no one asking questions.

Mail sent.

I recommend getting involved with some of the public fleets or new player friendly communities such as Spectre Fleet, Bomber's Bar, The New Order, E-Uni, Red versus Blue, Belligerent Undesirables, or Brave Newbies. At the same time I strongly recommend experimenting with different playstyles and not getting too tied down in game when you first start. A large network of contacts is invaluable in eve and can help when looking for a new corp.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I just joined teamspeak with a small corp, there's only 3 of us on teamspeak but that's about right for me. It seems like a small + growing corp, with a 3 month trial before becoming a full member.
