Hello there. tl;dr at the end, but I'd appreciate it if you heard me out. =D (I'm used to writing multi-thousand character posts about most things, so this is quite short by my standards. If you got any questions or anything, I'd love to answer them.)

I noticed the forums are mostly locked off for trial accounts. Understandable, but not quite to my personal liking nonetheless. But that's all irrelevant. Also, damn, my avatar is that of my in-game character. You weren't supposed to see that. xD

Anyways, as the title says, I'm (almost) a brand new player trying to gather enough ISK to pay for my game time from the get-go.
Almost, because I have gone through about 100 hours of playing and another 20 or so hours of pure learning. I got the basics down, but I am willing to bet there is oh so much important stuff I do not know about.
Also mind that this is not my real character. I don't have an active one yet, but I managed to snag a cheap Starter Pack a few months back, so when I'm ready, I'll activate that, be free of my Trial restrictions, and have a full month of time to gather as much ISK as I possibly can. =)

This is kinda the part where I'm looking for help. I learned a lot in my past many hours, but I went at it alone, with only the Rookie Help to guide me on questions I even knew to ask. For the time being, I'm looking for a person and/or corp who could help and/or teach me to gather as much ISK as quickly as possible. Not sure how common voice chatting is but I got a mic and would love to exchange words. I'd call myself a fast and determined learner.

I know it's common and most people tend to tell me these things, but I don't need lecturing on what is fun, how I will and won't enjoy the game, and whether or not I am going to "burn myself out" trying to PLEX my account each month from the very beginning. I know it's possible, and while I might not be skilled enough to manage, that is not important.

tl;dr: Need a person and/or corp to teach me how to make ISK as fast as possible.

There are many ways to make alot of isk but most of them are difficult to apply for someone that has more enthusiasm than game knowledge. If there were easy and accessible ways then everyone would be doing it and they would quickly drive all the profit out of it.

For someone in your position it will take so much time that you would be much better for getting a part-time job for a morning or evening and so expend far less effort.

For corporations probably the best bet is one of the large teaching type organisations like Eve University who have a huge amount of teaching resources on their wiki and it's all publically available so you could access it without joining.

If you click that link at the top for Evelopedia there is Akita T's guide to making isk amongst other articles in there as well as info on E-Uni.

Although Eve is supposed to be a cut-throat pvp oriented virtual world your attitude may put some people off helping you, in that you want people to spend their free time helping you to learn to make isk when they could be doing something more enjoyable.

I have 5 paid accounts. EVE is a game I pay to play, and not a second job.

Good luck with your quest, but don't let the continual grind for ISK burn you out. Try to find time to have fun in EVE.

It's been broken down in several threads. Try a few searches on the subject. People get very specific about this topic.

If I remember correctly it would take a new player using conventional isk producing game mechanics somewhere in the area of 8hrs a day/30 days a month to buy a plex.

You seem like someone that likes a challenge, however .. It's also been explained that picking up some random crap job and only working a couple hours a month would be a much more productive method.

It takes nothing like that amount of time even with the current cost of plex.

OP, you seem to be fully aware of the negative aspects surrounding new players plexing, so feel free to message me in game next time you're online and i'll sort you out.

Okay. Not a lecture, but it would be an easier goal to plex your account by the third month instead of the first. The reason is your skills will be very low in all areas. It takes a while to build up the skills for a high yielding mining barge or a mission running battleship - both traditional ways to grind out money. Likewise with exploration which also has the problems of dry spells where you aren't finding any good loot.

I think the easiest way to earn a lot of isk when you are low in skill is with market trading. Either station trading or arbitrage. The problem here that you will be starting with low capital which will limit your gains - but it is doable. Do a search for Eve Online Market Trading to find some of the well established blogs and read the posts from their beginning. It will give you ideas on earning isk quickly. There are also some in game market trading channels where people might be willing to give you some advice.

Sure.

Get a side job in RL and pay for your sub that way.

If PLEXing an account was easy that a new player can do it I his first month a PLEX woulx cost 8000 bil not 800 mil ISK.

Its a freaking game..

Play for fun, dont play to work (As that is what it will be, work an entire month for something worth 15 $. Just so you can do it the next month and the month after that and after that.........)

But as you already claim it is possible, why are you here if you already know you can do it...

Scamming, lying, and stealing is definitely the fastest way to earn isk and if you are determined to PLEX your account with the minimum amount of effort this would be the route to go. However, it does require some knowledge of the game mechanics in order to present a believable con and the biggest scores may be out of reach of a brand new player. Still, by starting small and working up I imagine it would be possible.

If you aren't interested in that kind of thing the next best thing is trading. This does require a bit of capital and some knowledge about how the market works, but if you really want to grind you can make your first billion in under a month. I've actually done so on a brand new character, just for the challenge. The trick here is getting the initial capital, and it helps to do all the career agent tutorial missions to get it as these give fairly decent rewards considering you can complete them with virtually no skills invested. It is, however, hard to get good advice on how to be a trader since it means that your mentor would essentially be training the competition. If this is a path you're interested in I'd recommend checking out the relevant Eve University wiki articles and asking for help in the Market Discussions subforum. Good luck.

Lots of people will tell you to just pay the sub fee, and it's not terrible advice, but I PLEX because $15 is worth more to me than a bundle of fake currency. To be honest, I don't see you getting that PLEX within your first month though. Maybe by the end of your second month, for me I believe it was my entire wallet by the third. You should set up as many income streams as possible:

I do PI on all three character slots, each pulling in well over 400mil ISK per month, but the training for this requires 20-30 days per toon. Two characters should just barely get you your PLEX, three will get you that and then some change. Low-sec is the best you can do in terms of risk/reward, unless you have easy access to null, but WH space is the best if you can join a WH corp. WH resources are great and the system is usually empty.

Regional trading requires some investment capital, but if you get lucky you can rake in quite a bit of ISK. EVE-Central has two tools which are helpful for this. The first compares buy orders and sell orders in different regions and tells you which are profitable, the second just compares market prices which are a harder sell but can lead to greater profits. The data isn't always accurate so I recommend you verify any big deals you find. I've made as much as 200 million ISK in one trip, as little as 30 million, or once I got my ship blown up and lost over 100 million. It's very variable...

For PVE you can get into Incursions within two or three months, where you can make ~80 million ISK/hr with well-trained groups. For PVP, factional warfare can be decent ISK but it alienates you against the empires so it may be best done on a second character.

Very simple nowdays: go to Uedama and wait for gankers. Let them get concorded and loot their wrecks. Sell the stuff back to gankers. Repeat.

My 2 isk,

Don't make ISK or Plexing your account your goal. I pay my sub, always have. I've had opportunities to plex my account with income for sometime now but I don't. There are a few of reasons why. *note doesn't apply to veterans.

1. That kind of playstyle makes the game more like a job rather than a game. Especially for new players this is going to equal a lot of game time for little return. You are better off doing chores if you are a kid or working a couple of hours minimum wage to pay for sub. Seriously not worth your time. Only in extreme circumstances can anyone ever earn more isk per hours vs minimum wage (big gank, station trader with billions of isk, lucky exploration/incursion loot and scams/awox.

2. I view my income as what I've earned or what I can buy (to fly) I do not believe in buying plex and selling it for isk, I think this is borderline pay to win (or pay to lose in most cases) but still, I think it takes away from a sense of accomplishment. Your isk should be a measure of what you've earned and what you can field rather than if you can play.

3. Subs keep the game going. I don't mind paying to play a good mmo. Free to play model MMOs always end up with a giant pay to win cash shop. Something I hope to never see.

you realize that someone else bought that plex for *more* than what a sub is right?

I plex 2 accounts, and really unless you get lucky with a loot drop or something you're looking at station trading as the only viable way to get there in one month. If station trading is what you enjoy doing, cool; if not it'll turn the game into a job, and jobs suck which is why we play games.

That being said, you *can* grind it out in L4's, but it'll take you ~ 2 months to get to that point. You can also use PI but you'll need to do it on 2 characters which is going to be ~ 2 months worth of training.

Side question, are all sold PLEXes bought by the players in the first hand, or some are generated by the game engine? Not that I can do anything with the infos, but curious mind want to know Lol

Everything on the market bar blueprints are player generated in some fashion, be that looted from an npc, bought from ccp or produced by player's, if it's up there a player put it there.

All PLEX's are either bought directly from CCP, or converted ingame from timecodes, and then traded by players. The game does not generate PLEXs.

However, there are every once in a while special events, where CCP will "donate" a few PLEXs as a contest prize. or carry PLEXs in their cargohold during a fight, allowing players to claim them as loot.

As with most things in this game, it's you guys that run the PLEX market Big smile

That's an impressive recreation of a world (well universe) sized economy then!

Although some prices are also driven by the buy/sell value set by NPC corps, but that's another debate. For example the Nestor battleship is regarded by many as too pricey, but I think its price is mostly driven by its worth in the LP store, so the price is decided by CCP here, not by players, right?

CCP has the power to set the relative value of seeded items based on the requirements to purchase it, whether it's other items or LP. However, the actual value is determined dynamically as the value of the required items and LP are all affected individually by supply and demand in the player economy.

EVE is about the ride, not about the destination (grinding for plex). You miss the point of EVE if your goal is to play for free. You should invest the ISK you earn in fun and adventure.
