Disk Usage Spikes

I've noticed that periodically the EVE client will freeze and go "not responding." When i look at my resource monitor I am seeing a MASSIVE disk usage and Network Usage spike simultaneously.
Soon as the spike returns to normal levels the client unfreezes.

Any help on further troublshooting this issue will be appreciated.

System Specs:
Windows 8
128GB SSD (EVE and Windows)
10GB DDR3 RAM
8 Core AMD FX CPU
GeForce GTX460 3GB SC
