Ship Inventory - 'Equipment' and 'Cargohold'

I would like to propose our ship inventory is partitioned into 'Equipment' and 'Cargohold' sections.

I assume many, if not most, other players have a set of items in our typical ship inventory that are bits of kit we use on a regular basis. Examples may include MTU's, ammo, Depots, Analyzers, tag for gates, refits for travel, looting etc.

I personally have too often returned with a cargohold full of looted items dropped them at a storage station to then go out to do more missions, DEDs etc only to find when I arrive I've also accidentally removed an item from my inventory that I actually need in a refit or my MTU etc.

This is why I would like to propose ship inventories are split / partitioned. The simplest way is to split it into two sections that share a single total capacity, with the first named 'Equipment' and the second named 'Cargohold'. While out looting anything you pickup will automatically be put into the 'Cargohold' partition. This will very simply make it easier to manage the equipment we use and keep it separate from the loot we want to quickly drop off at stations.

Your personal failure to make sure you're only moving around what you want moved does not call for a coded solution to your personal problem. Here is what most of the rest of us do:

1. Select the stuff you don't want moved. This can be done pressing the ctrl key on the bottom left corner of your keyboard as you click various items.
2. Right click, using the button on the right side of the mouse, any of the selected items.
3. Select the menu option 'invert selection.'
4. Click the left button of the mouse on one of the newly selected items, and while holding that button down, drag the items to where you want to unload them.

There. Like magic, all items you looted are unloaded while keeping the stuff you want to keep in your hold, well, in your hold.
Enjoy.

Edit: After looking at your profile, I felt the need to add this. EvE is not the last MMO you played. There is no easy button, and any mistakes you make will only get you laughed at here. If you have a problem with an aspect of the game and need help, we will gladly tell you how to get yourself out of that particular jam. However, no one here is going to hold your hand and guide you along on the path to mediocraty. You rise in EvE on your own merits, until someone more powerful thinks you've risen too far and smacks you back down.

Splitting cargohold is good idea, really helpfull if we gotta have spare hardener or something.
Standard Containers are helpful in such situations but won't solve completely.

or, I suggest favorite system (from borderlands2) witch prevent marked item move from cargohold.

Use the inventory filter and set up costume filters

don't ask for things if there are already systems in place that do what you need

This.

If you divide up your cargo space and fill it with containers, not only will you partition it but you will increase your space by as much as 20% overall.

The only issue is that the MTU is considered a "container" and so you can not put it inside another container.

I confess I had not realised you were able to use containers within cargo holds, very useful feature. Eve is still very much a learning curve and I hadn't found a solution for this, but now with containers I have, the inventory filter is something else I will look into.

Every time I undock, I go through a mental check list to make sure that I have everything that I know I will need to have with me. It took me a while to get used to doing it every time I undock, but if you do it for a while you will discipline yourself to do it automatically. It'll just kind of become a natural step that you always go through before clicking the undock button.
