I dont think its realistic that people can just delete and recreate themselves and have an infinite line of scamming alts and never be identified. If someones scamming in local, people should be able to rate them similar to how people can in e-bay. This should apply to their account, not their sole alt. People should be free to scam but buyers should also be free to protect eachother.

A comment should be only applicable to the specific character but the rating should be on the account. No linking or showing who's characters are who's, just a rating.

Oh, so my market alt can give all her competition bad feedback to cut down the competition then, right?

Let me just ask a few of my 7000 alliance mates to help make me the most reliable scammer person in the world.

It would only be available to people who've contracted with them. Not just anyone. I figured as much is obvious. Additionally, with a history so if u make a thousand contracts to a thousand ally members and sell them all a trit for 1 isk.. they can see that.

If E-bay can make a reliable system, so can CCP Im sure.

I think rather than trying in vain to trash it you could come up with ways to avoid it being abused... if you are competent enough. As its much easier to critiize than create and so you should challenge yourself.

Why not just start a third party website about such things yourself? The Eve system is open-ended to allow for things like that.

And the reason people are pointing out the holes in your suggestion is that there are holes that need to be pointed out. The reason no one is suggesting fixes is because there aren't really any good ones (and people don't really care to change the current system as-is)

You know, you could just, like, read contracts before accepting them? I mean, it's not hard to do.... unless you're illiterate, but i,m sure youre not since you're on the internet.

unfortunately literacy and a generally acceptable level of intelligence and forethought is at a premium these days, as technology has reached such a point of "convenience" that most people are more content sitting around having everything done for them, and when that is unavailable, devoting MORE ENERGY to complaining about it not being done for them, then it would actualy take to just go do it.

alas, that si the world we live in, too much convenience related technology, not enough giant-robots with fusion-laser weaponry.

This is EVE. If it exists, we WILL use it to our advantage, regardless of the reason it was created.

As LeHarfang said, if you just bothered to read a contract before blindly accepting it, this wouldn't even need to exist.

I really dont feel you speak for the entire eve community when you say people dont care to change it. I know there are tons of people who would change the system for the better. Sure, allow scamming but its unrealistic to allow infinite scamming behind infinite disguises and this would change that.

A third party website is useless when people delete and re-create characters at their leisure.

Personally, never been scammed. Not once. I read stuff. I just dont like how its setup now and using systems already implemented in the real world to protect buyers seems more than logical enough to give it a shot.

My greatest benefit from this would be helping me sift through the pile of garbage so I can buy faster. I never get tricked, I just get my time wasted by people who think they're clever and that is almost as big a ****-off after years and years of playing as actually getting scammed.

There are also alot of other ways to scam that wouldnt be affected for those who's only real skill in this game is threatened by my idea.
