L3-L4 Mission ship: Why do you fly it?

It's mildly enjoyable to figure out a missions' triggers and blitz them for LP. Usually I just use them as a rapid method to increase sec stat, and keep an even wallet balance. I tend to welp a lot of cheap ships in pew pew. A few missions set me up for an entire night of frigate PVP so I tend to treat missions as in-between content snacks, to occupy one half of my brain while the other is on Teamspeak and chat channels. If hisec missions bore you, try lowsec or nullsec missions. They are not harder then hisec ones and range from level 1 to 5. The latter are fun to run with a fleet, although you will need to be a little ballsy and social to be able to join in on that content.

what i fly and why-

when i dual box(no software, just two pcs) i fly mjd dominix. fairly quick killing big missions.

when i want to loot- vargur or golem

when i want to fly passive- rattlesnake, great tank, excellent damage, missions go quick.
when i get too many gurista/serp/sansa- vargur or golem, no more jams.

when i want fly fast- ishtar, still handles l4's just fine.

all the above are reasonably easy to change fit for extry tank, range, etc.

i still have my drake(s). i use them to run l4 recon 3. one of them is now a poor man's command ship.

havent used an assault frig in l4 in some time. was fun the first couple times, but about as slow as a drake would be now in l4's.

I fly the Ferox for L3s simply because I think it looks awesome

Didn't do them for a while and since Mina finnished missile skills I planted her in fleet phoon and another girl in nestor both shield tanked got north of 2700dps combined over some 80-90km, curator cruise for phoon curator tachions for Nestor.

Was rather fun considering both ships are light on tank and just when rats start to brake tank they switch to 2nd ship they constantly did that.

Missions happened in amarr and both ships had huge em hole there was melting on both sides but was actually fun largely becouse it seems that particular agent did not see a pod pilot in a while and bombarded with blockade and assault missions.

Bur yeah another day or so and I am rdy to took 3-4 month brake from missions.
If not for Mina horrible amarr standing wouldn't even bother.

You choke behind a smile a fake behind the fear

Hapax,
I am not overly worried about losing the ship to rats. My concern is gankers. I haven't been ganked ...Yet! I am certain if I play long enough it IS going to happen. I just don't want to be screwed if/when it does.

Chances of getting ganked in high sec is very small unless you are being stupid.

I generally usually use a Tengu

Precision for L3's
Fury for L4's

ISK/hour ratio's are not really my main objective
so it all works for me.

Whenever I logged on to EVE, I try to set an objective for the time I spend ingame. If for example, I only have an hour to spare, I do lvl4 missions and try to earn as much ISK i can within the timeframe allowed. On an average, I'd earn 60M to 80M (LP + Loot + Bounties) and that in itself feels rewarding for me.

Anyway, there are a ton of things you can do in EVE. It's up to you on how to think of a way to better enjoy your sandbox.

I fly a mach mostly or the tengu for lvl4's. I agree with above, you can make 60-80 mil an hour which is fun to me i like shopping!
So when i don't want to get into something that takes forever like ops, i mission. This game you can do what you like there are no rules.

Ishtar because its OP and can run missions just as good as pimped faction battleships. and way cheaper

~needs lot of SP including at least drone skills and HAC to lvl4

I currently Fly L3 Missions in a T2 Drake. It is starting to feel like work. I have a job in RL and don't need another one. Smile I have the ISK to move to another hull/faction. Perhaps I can find one that I find more to my liking. So my question for the folks that do L3 and L4 missions is: What do you fly and what makes it more fun for you then the others? Please no "I fly "X" because "Y" sucks". That is no help. If you do in fact like the Drake and enjoy it, tell me why. maybe I am missing something or more likely doing it wrong. Thanks!

Navy Dominix for rofldrones. It is literally snooze missioning.

Vargur for making stuff explode quickly and immune to Ewar. Downside: Requires me to be awake in some fashion.

HAM Tengu for blitzing. Only downside is the tiny tank and is vulnerable to gankers.

Way cool! Since I don't plan on flying low/null sec or building a multi-billion ISK ship any time soon, I guess I can build a low end Battleship. The Raven is more missiles and the Navy ships are out of reach financially. The Dominix sounds interesting.

Cruise Missiles don't swat npc frigates so well, so don't skimp too much on the drone skills

Light Scout & Medium Scout Drone skills will be all you need for a Raven (and the Medium Drones skill is probably overkill)
A smattering of the Drone Support skills to L4 will be more than enough for your needs.

For the Dominix you'll need to add the Sentry Drones Skill in addition to S/M Scouts
Get your drone support skills to 4 initially, but for a dedicated drone boat like the domi .... you'll want them at 5 fairly soon
You can shield tank the Domi quite well too ..
add some blasters & it does a large amount of short range dps (around 1200dps with drones)

Training for the Raven & Dominix unlocks the Rattlesnake .. Drones + Missiles is always fun.

To enjoy missioning more I try to use multiple ships in different stages of the mission. Say for example bringing a Hyperion blaster fit for close combat brawling after selectively downing the greatest threat using Navi Domi with sniper sentries.

Make no mistake, the higher level SoE 4 missions can be quite hard so challenge will be there, though I suppose a Marauder has some more room to breatheā€¦

What ship u fly wont matter, its what u fit it with that can get u ganked. Generally any good missions ship will do great with a T2 fitting. (almost) Noone will gank that

A ship filled with shiny pithium and faction modules is a nice juicy target to gank, specially if it's setup for PvE instead of PvP.

I do missions on a regular basis and it's an ISK grind. It can be entertaining for a short period but after so many missions it's work. It doesn't matter what ship you fly.

I change up ships depending on the mission and I think that helps a little. It's not that one ship is less boring but just different.

If you want something less like work try some form of PVP. It's more unpredictable and can have a fun factor. The downside is most PVP isn't profitable. If you're short on ISK just do it on occasion. Kill rights can be a downside if you do your PVP in high or lowsec. Maybe keep it to nullsec

I flying a Navy Omen w/ L3 + a logi alt because I like multitask. I don't use the alt for all the missions, only the biggest ones.

For L4: Proteus in some days. I know that not much people like it and prefer the Tengu, but always fly what you feel fun to fly Twisted
