Do cloaking devices prevent you from being scanned down?

I was asked this today; if your cloak is active, can people find your location with sombat scanner probes?

NO they do not, if you cloak in a safe spot you are essentially invulnerable.

Until a fleet mate warps to you while you are /afk, decloaks you and then sneaks off.

If you are going to go /afk while cloaked, either don't be fleeted or if you have to be, leave your ship moving at top speed. So fleet idiots will always land behind you.

Which gives rise to the term "afk cloaky ***" (censored? - yes, apparently Shocked)

and endless discussion threads all over EVE-O about special combat probes, fuel for cloaking devices and outright nerfs of the cloaking mechanism.
