We need free roaming burner NPCs

Release them from mission only, and let them roam the belts, gates and stations of high/low/null/wh sec. I think it would be exciting.
Now you would have to be alert at all times.

This was a random thought spurred in another topic. Please weigh in with your opinion, this could make for an interesting topic.

Just to clarify some: Tiered NPCs for system sec status could be applied as it is now. Burner frigates in high sec, and they get stronger the lower sec you go, including adding cruiser NPCs etc. I could see it impacting a lot of things.

- Haulers in HS would need escorts.
- AFK mining would be impacted.
- Solo pilots would have to be more alert when cruising around (as one would be when flying around during a war dec).

I'm interested in hearing from folks on this.

They have mordu rats, but they don't spawn as often. Maybe they can have them spawn more often and hunt the burner rats who also drop pirate ship bpcs (please)?

I dunno about everywhere, but low/null sec would be fine. Make them in scanned down anoms with a gate that restricts the type of ships used (like a fw plex) and i could be behind this.

Dude, miners want to mine... They don't want to pve or pvp, otherwise they would be doing that instead.
The majority of EVE's players don't like the burner missions (Look at devlog graph, 84% are declined).

Don't mistake liking with not doing. Also what miners do you know that work out in low and null without escorts? Any significantly large mining op in either space either has enough fire power in their drones or has escorts who should be able to handle any that warp to them and if they don't why should it matter? Pirates kinda you know, pirate.

The other issues I see would be in regards to their drop rates of faction loot. If they can just show up without a mission I don't think keeping their drops the same could be justified, especially if they randomly appear at gates or belts or whatever.

Actually, I think this would add a great aspect to the game.
Having a random free roaming NPC ship harassing people in a system that must be combat probed down to take out.

Make him just take pop shots at people and warp away

make a notable reward for catching him Cool

Absolutely not.

You ignored about 98% of the game making this suggestion. If the forum would allow for it then I would describe this idea in an appropriate fashion... sadly it does not.

And for all those who are in favor above, go play the game first before making such statements, we have random spawns in plexes and misisons, we have random spawns on freshly created grids in lowered security and so forth.

And yes .. players too.
