Rookie ships are the 3rd most lost frigate in burner missions...now that's funny. Lol

So... the total loss is 850-900ish billions and the total loot drop is 2-2.5ish billion...

Seems like the risk/reward aspect of burner missions is a tad bit... off...

yawn more frigates... still not interested wasting time with these.

When cruiser burners come around maybe then...

But what i really are waiting for are BS size burners now that would be something (BS size vvessels dishing out over 1000dps with all the EW in game Let the real battle commence and fireworks alone would be sight to see) frigates look like peashooters after that)

(and still when you take into account how hard these things are i just cannot justify the risk/reward on frigate size burners)

Maybe they could add lvl 5 burners with a battleship primary and cruiser & frig escorts?

Even if you don't have an insta-undock point set (which is pretty silly), there is a moon almost directly in line with the undock to warp to. You have to be almost criminally negligent to lose a frigate on the JIta undock.

Yes, everyone should have an insta-undock - but a lot don't. I guess we'll chalk those ships up to the Burner gods...

Quote:
As to the rest of your post, I'm sure they'll get around to burner missions for larger ships eventually... although those will likely have a little different dynamic. Frigate combat tends to, shall we say, rely on a different skill set compared to larger vessels. Smile

Which is somewhat odd since by the time you're farming L4s you're either in a strategic cruiser or battleship… In any event, 84.7% of players declining these missions speaks volumes. If the numbers were reversed I'd be a bit more encouraged.

I think everyone knew from the outset that these would have a lot of people that would turn them down... especially at first when everyone is trying to figure out how to succeed with them.

They are far more difficult and personal skill intensive than a run of the mill level 4 farm fest.

Thats' kinda the whole point... not everyone will be capable of doing them (at least at first) and will need to develop the fits and personal skills to do so.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that the acceptance level right off the bat has been so high, as most mission runners tend to be very profit oriented and more than a bit risk adverse. Which is somewhat understandable, it's their bread and butter after all (I suppose).

This is me. I was all excited to do them. Then they arrived and I saw that I had a lot of training to do. For example, I have been training Science skills so intently that the only T2 frigates I can fly are CovOps. I have seen no successful completions of a burner mission in an Anathema. I don't believe that I ever will.

Fairly spoken, and I did not mean to make that sound like a blanket statement.

A lot of mission runners, well really many players in general, skip over learning how to use the smaller vessels well in their quest to get into larger ships as quickly as possible. It's understandable, larger vessels tend to be more profitable, but it doesn't prepare a player for something like this.

I'll be honest here. I'd love to see CCP come out with graphs saying "we dun goofed" and then reverse the changes. But at this point, I'll take any graphs, even if they prove me wrong, because that will at least TELL me that CCP isn't trying to sweep it under the carpet.

Once we're done communicating the Oceanus changes I'm planning to put some of the stats surrounding wormholes into a form fit for public consumption. The sneak peek is: overall changes have been surprisingly small (in both directions).

Fozzie, is there a chance you could share any truly triumphant against-all-the-odds burner kills?

Has anyone killed one in a T1 Frigate, for example?

Unless the figures include OGB's and Logi on grid who never shot at the burner (From the sounds of it they just used the combat logs of the burners, so those with 29+ for example weren't 29 on grid at the same time?) you won't be getting a really accurate representation anyway.

84.7% of level 4 runners skipping them could indeed be the result of training the wrong skill set, given that regular missions suitable for frigates (level 1 & 2) are hardly challenging. Given these burner missions are level 4, it'd be great to see a progression of these sorts of missions so players can start out with something similar at level 2 (less risk, less reward) and progress from there, essentially training players with proper fitting skills and some pvp basics along the way. Once large burner missions are brought in (cruiser, battleship etc) then you've got the underpinnings of a replacement mission system, provided the content starts getting dynamic too!

"Wow, that internet argument completely changed my fundamental belief system," said no one, ever.

Sweet. Can't wait to eat my words.

And on that note, we need a consumable item "Your Words" with description "Eat them"

Hawks are dying. That's enough to make me happy.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?
