A GM suggested i post this idea and I am sure I will get a bunch of you're just whiny comments BUT, here is my idea anyway.

I personally don't and have never played Eve for PvP, it doesn't interest me at all, I think the gate campers ruined my desire for that. SO, my idea is to have a PvE option you can enable to prevent attacking others or being attacked by others ever.

Now I could see how that could be abused, I could annoy a bunch of folks and then just turn it on and laugh. So I think if it was implemented it should be like a remap, maybe if you turn it off and attack someone, you cant turn it back on for 12 months or something.

This option lets people like me, who just want to explore, just explore without getting gate camped...which seems to be something perhaps I have never figured out how to defend against....seems there is nothing but death if you are gate camped. I think this lets folks who want the full Eve experience of piracy, theft and blowing each other up to do their things....while folks like me who want the experience of exploration without the craziness of being attacked left and right by lunatics enjoy our portion of Eve and only need to worry about the CPU based craziness that we CHOOSE to run into. Might also get to see more of Eve than just the lil portion that is semi safe. Could even have areas in Eve that over-ride the PvE so if you fly into it, then you can keep the option on, but you might wanna hold onto your eject button :)

Just a thought. But with my character being so old, and having earned my Eve bruises over the years I think I am entitled to my observation. Given the amount of time and IRL money I have spent on this game, I don't think I want to keep pumping more and more money and time in to earn back stuff that folks take from me just cos I jumped through the wrong gate :)

Now that we have that out of the way, there are so many ways for this to be abused its not even funny.

Also, a cloaky nullified T3 already does exactly what you want, runs gate camps with total impunity, scans down sites, runs combat sites, runs profession sites, and travels at a reasonable speed.

If you havent found a way around gate camps when you are meant to be exploring AND you are an old character. Then you just havent been trying hard enough or are just thick...

As a brand new player i fitted up my vexor and spent a couple months in lowsec doing exploration sites....I didnt lose a single exploration ship, despite many people trying.


Nullsec isnt too much harder. You just need more specialised ships.As the post above me stated you can have bubble immunity as a T3 and carry all the mods to refit to do DED sites in your cargo.



This is EVE...Its a PvP game. If you dont like straight up fighting, then your version of PvP is avoiding getting caught.

I, for one, play this game because I enjoy the fact that whatever I happen to be doing, and I've damn near done it all by now, I'm not completely safe. The fact that there is no cheat mode in EvE is the main draw for me. Yes, a PvP flag is a cheat mode, because if you never turn it on, you risk nothing, and therefore can make isk without any danger of losing any isk.

Yes, you are entitled to your observations. What you are not entitled to is ruining the game for all the rest of us that have learned to play it within the existing rule set, and can even thrive when CCP alters the rules.

Slight aside topic, not necessarily off topic. Has anyone other than me noticed the most recent trend of nerf highsec PvP threads have totally abandoned any attempts to get little nerfs through? I guess after the last rounds where they asked for stronger ships, and got them, the "one more nerf" carebears are now going hardcore for the total ban of PvP in highsec.

It is becoming clear to me that a lot of people are now playing MMOs who have no idea what "Trammel" is or what it did to Ultima Online. So for those people, let me leave something educational in this thread:

Ultima Online was a PvP-based MMO. You could kill or be killed anywhere - in town, the guards would come for you right quick, but outside of towns no guards would come. The only thing that happened was some infamy, which certain players enjoyed and took pride in. As I understand it, some of the original developers of EVE were in fact quite high in infamy indeed.

Death was harsh - you lost all your stuff when you died/were killed, as I recall. You could get it back, but only if someone else hadn't looted it from your corpse first.

Then one day, for reasons unknown to me, the company behind Ultima Online introduced "Trammel", an alternate universe of sorts where PvP was disabled. They thought that the hardcore players would stay in the normal world while the carebears would go to Trammel and that both places would exist harmoniously and successfully.

It was, in fact, quite literally the death of that game.

So if you think that EVE Online needs to be Trammelized as well ... well, you can kindly go bugger yourself in the arse with a hot fireplace poker, please. Unfortunately for everyone, EVE isn't the game for you and it's time to admit it to yourself.

I have wondered....do gm's actually say to post this stuff here?

GM's....what say you? If true is this a clever ploy to avoid giving bad customer service giving an answer they won't like?

Or do you like to give us low hanging fruit for easy pickings?

Or do these people lie to us lol?

At most a "PvE" option in EvE would be, ship safeties couldn't be set to red only in hi-sec. Characters with a sec status of -5 or lower (so those who can be shot freely by anyone in hi-sec) would then be exempt and allowed to switch their safety.

This would be the absolute closest EvE would get to a "PvE only option" and even that is unlikely.

Drop the negative attitude towards the forum, and I bet you'll get a lot further.

To your idea: You're playing the wrong game my friend...

I would maybe consider this if it were available in only .8 systems and higher and had a cooldown of, say, 6 months or so to prevent flip-flopping / abuse. It might help new player retention. Eventually they would wonder why everyone else is having more fun in the deep end of the pool and go see for themselves, or get bored and quit anyway. But, I'm fairly certain that changes this substantial would be well down the list behind current issues or bugs that may or may not be corrected for quite some time.
