Intergalactic Summit

I write to announce a writing contest for stories or poems by Capsuleers. There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 30,000 words. There is no required subject matter; the content may be fiction or non-fiction. All entries will be considered.

Submissions are to be made to me via the galnet message system. If the submission exceeds the limits of a Galnet message to me, contact me privately for an alternate address the submission may be sent. If you wish to submit your entry on the Eve Fiction forum, you certainly are welcome to do so but mail me that you want it considered for the contest before October 15th.

Deadline for submissions is October 22 of this year. Winners will be announced at the Wine tasting at the Golden Masque on November 8th at 20:00

Due to the number of submissions, I have increased the awards by another 350 million and broken the contest into three categories.

Poetry (12 submissions accepted)
1st: 250 million
2nd: 150 million
3rd: 100 million
4th; 50 million
5th: 25 million
6th through 12th: 2 million

Prose (7 submissions accepted)
1st; 250 million
2nd; 150 million
3rd: 100 million
4th: 50 million
5th through 7th: 2 million

Non-Fiction (News/Treatises/Etc.)
1st: 250 million
2nd: 150 million
3rd: 100 million
4th: 2 million

Winners will be invited to give a reading at the Raven Poetry House in Nahyeen (depending on length, the reading may be limited to selected excerpts.

The most "amusing" or "entertaining" gets treated to dinner by me (heretics, notorious criminals or apostates excluded from the dinner prize).

All winners will be Published in the New Eden Times published by Lady Evelyn Meiyi.

As the judge, I am disqualified. (I did contact several people to be judges, sadly they all wanted to try to enter the contest!)

All entries will be considered.

it's about you and New Eden! Sure it would count. It might not win though unless it was really entertaining.

I'd like to add 1 billion ISK to the pot, to be distributed to the winners at the organizer's discretion. Let me know where to send the funds.

Nice. Would love to enter this, but I think there's no way I'll finish The Rooster and The Rabbit before the deadline, but it may finally get me started regardless. I was thinking about doing so lately.

Maybe I'll think of something else to submit. Inspiration strikes me sometimes, when these contests happen.

This is a nice change from the general announcements of late. I will see what I can come up with for a submission.

If anyone has any questions not answered in the initial post, do not hesitate to contact me.

In response to one question I received, multiple submissions are okay but I reserve the right to "group" them in my sole discretion for award consideration (such as a thematically related series of poems).

Give it a shot anyway Ria! Doesn't have to be long or some traditional story format.

And spread awareness you have.

I'm interested in this, as well. Maybe my talent for horrid jokes can be put to use thinking and composing an actual piece of literature. Who knows? Well, I probably do, and I probably won't manage it, but still.
