Try Command+Option+Esc, Mac OS should kill your foremost application if in fullscreen or bring up the Force Quit Applications window otherwise.

Alt+Command+Esc did the job, thank you!

Just did a complete re-install of EVE.. I login, warp back to POS from E-Warp location.. tell mates in WH channel I'm the Pilot in the Pilgrim.. and Blammo... EVE freezes again. And yet again, no crash report. I guess that's normal because I have to F-Quit to get out.

EVE is currently not playable for me sadly.
Crucible was Ok to start with, hardly any troubles.
Then came Patch#1 crashes got more frequent..
And now Patch#2... gives me a freeze within 2 minutes of login.

I have no idea how to report this.. it even happens on a clean install.
Someone once said I was a muppet. If that's so, I'm quite sure the Swedish Chef is my brother.

Started locking up on me today. Worked fine until server restart on 8th Dec. Mac OS 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro.

A few seconds after I login the client freezes up, as if I've been disconnected. But yet I can still see other people chatting away.

:: edit ::
This is definitely something to do with the server, because my other account that runs on a Win7 machine is now also crashing. I've never experienced any crashes until today on either machines.

Or your internet connection

I'm not an idiot, it wasn't the Internet connection.
Also, I wouldn't see other people still chatting if it was my connection.

DEAR CCP!

My patience is very long and my admiration for You is almost endless in trying to maintain a working MAC Client of this fascinating game.

But realities are impeding. I cant do anything in the game because Im running out of loopholes and workarounds. And I'll lock my accounts of course to stop putting subscription fees into an unparallel trade, if Your already well demonstrated MAC Service Level will discontinue.

There is so many things on Your part to be done yet You demonstrate little or no effort on this.

As a fellow developer I can try my best to jump into your shoes, imagining You working hard on this and really striving to make it function. Its just quite confusing on my part not to have any information whatsoever or any sort of deadline or anything.

Every time one actively tries to crash an application it somehow refuses. Heisenbugs are literally the worst bugs :(. Currently running eve with output of cider tee'd into a textfile. When it crashes I'll update this post with pastebins of the cider output and a coredump (if it yields one).

I've been at it for days now. It consistently crashes when I open "Eve online.app', but it doesn't when I start cider from the command prompt. I tee'd the output everytime, and there are _tons_ of errors in those. I do not believe those errors cause this specific freeze, though, unless Mac OS decides the application is outputting too much to STDERR (unlikely).

I'll do another run later and provide the total output of that in here somewhere. For reference, this is the command I execute when it keeps working. Don't mind the shell please, I'm a zsh nerd:

Quote:

/Applications > cd EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS
/Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/MacOS > ./cider 2>&1 | tee ~/cideroutput.txt
fixme:win32:PE_CreateModule Security directory ignored
fixme:win32:PE_CreateModule Load Configuration directory ignored

Well. Wouldn't you believe. I got a freeze.

Mine only happens when I undock. But it happens every time. I get an "unhandled page" error at a memory location and I'm asked if I want to repair. I say yes then have to relog finding my self in E warp.

No issues at all prior to the first patch.

Any hope for a fix?

It appears you guys are trying to free memory that has not been allocated _a_lot_. I'm surprised we're not getting a ton of segmentation faults instead of this. Still looks a lot like the same.

Honestly mate, petition it. It's been happening to a lot of us as you can see. And this should simply be reimbursed.

Well last night I had the crash to desktop and not the freeze up issue for the first time. It created no crash report of course. Perhaps the disease is progressing to the next stage? At least my ship warped away from where it was in space during the CTD, something it does not do when it just freezes.

Also I've noticed that since cucible the "People and Places" really lags my system when I open it. Opening it, making or deleting a bookmark hangs everything for a sec or two.

Anyway, getting really annoying!

Nope, still getting the same issue as I posted earlier. I can stop posting it because the error before the timeouts is always the same. Looks like a malicious free() call somewhere.

I was boosting with my Orca on my 2006 MBP, the client froze and the toon never logged and my miners never lost boost. I stopped mining and went to bed but left the frozen client on. I woke up 10 minutes before DT and logged a different toon on and went to the POS. The Orca was still there and providing boosts (By looking at waves coming from ship), but I had no way to join fleet. I stayed logged on until DT and then the client locked up and I had to force quit.

At no time did the computer freeze, it was basically like the screen output of the client was frozen, but the client still worked in every way, which may be why there are no crash reports as it seems only the video output has crashed.
