Between a Drake and a Rattlesnake

I'm currently running L3's in a Drake, and I intend to eventually transition to L4's in a Rattler; unfortunately, this is a rather young character, and it will take me over 2 months of training before I can pilot one with an acceptable fit. In that time, I'd like to pilot something that will actually benefit from most of the skills I'll be training. Is there anything that fits logically between a Drake and a Rattlesnake?

The Raven gets my vote as well. I'd use something along the lines of this. With Lvl 5 skills, it gives 1010 DPS for around 539 Mil ISK. Super effective and cheap as chips. I'd progress from this to an RNI, then to a Golem. Ignore the Rattlesnake, there are far better options.

with the t2 rigs yarp. although probably worth buying a CNR and just going with t1 rigs if you are spending that much.

You know, i'm thinking probably should go Gila, you can use it in the level 3s while you train up drones/BS skills and figure out how to use the ship without taking on the added DPS of the level 4s. Also saves you from that awful BS warp speed until you are sufficiently trained for the Rattler.

I'm not looking to maximize isk/hr, I just really like the play style of the Rattlesnake.

I have been running some L3 in Gila without any problems, but I don't do it full time, I just needed to griind some standing and move up to L4. For L4 I use Typhoon, Raven, Navy Raven.

I have done DED 4/10, DED 5/10 in Gila. So if you can compare them to L4, then yes, Gila can do L4.

One Gila fit I got is:
4x t2 hml (118.8 dps)
1x t1 drone link

1x t1 10mn ab
1x civi shield booster
1x t1 active shield resist
2x t1 passive shield resist
1x t2 lse

1x t2 dc
3x t2 dda

4x salvage drones
3 or more t2 hammerheads (634.7 dps)

3x t1 purger rigs


I have another Gila fit with two t2 lse on another char, dps wise they are the same since the only modules different between two fits are the drone link, resist mods and number of lse.

I have not used it in l4, but I did use it in ded 4/10 and ded 5/10, it did well.

T2 rigs are a waste on a plain Raven IMO. You would get better performance from a Navy Raven with T1 rigs for about the same price

You can fit a passive-shield Rattlesnake that's more than effective in lvl 4s so your shield skills will be shared. Also drone skills in a drake won't go amiss.

Drake is THE best of all ships in Eve, almost everyone knows that.
Don't believe the stats though - it can be misleading and don't listen to what silly people have to say. They are ignorant.

Troll. Gilas can blow through L3s fairly fast. The Rattler is currently the fastest L4 boat but requires micro to do so
