Roleplaying exists, in-game channels have been mentioned above. Check out one of the oldest corporations in Eve online and their general approach to roleplay. http://www.pieinc.co.uk/community/board/index.php?showtopic=25334 I have a lot of respect for those guys.

I don't interact with people much in-game as im a go-it-alone pvp type but if I get the opportunity to do a bit of tongue-in-cheek roleplay I will :D Mostly through wardeccing people for making racist or homophobic comments in local. You have to stand up to these scumbags :D

Don't expect to get much more of a helpful reply from people in eve-general, it's full of idiots as I am sure you will note.

Am not much of a roleplayer (though I'm willing to give it a try).. but I was recently invited to a nice channel that was designed as a peaceful beach and witnessed some quiet roleplay I thought was fascinating.


It seems like to me that roleplaying can often occur in private circles and involves some personal trust..

Joffy Aulx-Gao for CSM. Fix links and OGB. Ban stabs from plexes. Fulfill karmic justice.

Roleplayers are gross and CCP shouldn't be doing anything to encourage them.

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

Not sure how it is now days, but it used to actually get you rewards by CCP in a sense.

Back before Incursions, it was Role Players that CCP organized to have a meeting with Sansha Kuvakei. (Or however its spelled) They were the ones that brought the "intel" screenshots back to Empire showing the massive Sansha fleet preparing to invade.

Was some rp corp that has always said it was allied with the Sansha or some such.

These two channels are good starts indeed! To elaborate on it, both channels also have an OOC channel tied to it, because it's often fun to chat about things in a non-RP style, it's a faulty stereotype that RP'ers can't step out of their RP Blink
If you got questions concerning RP or are looking for sources about certain aspects of the lore, you can ask away in the OOC (out of character) channels ingame. Eve's lore can sometimes be hard to find specifics in.

Actual role players seem to be less than 10% in other MMO's, I can't see that being any different here. Actual RPing requires too much effort for most people, myself included.

I think RP is a pretty broad term and can mean a ton of different things. I like to do a little mild RP.
