Owning your own faults on the EVE-O forums? You're a fast learner. You'll go far around here if you keep that up. Just don't be pretentious about it, he said pretentiously Pirate

It's a stupid question, I know, but after recent experiences , I had to ask...Oops

Is there a list of corps or alliances we should bookmark as red to try to save our own arse's? Is this even allowed by CCP rules? Again, I found nothing in my search... I thought by now ganking would be such a pain in the arse that someone would have come up with a list of "whomever" to watch out for?

Anyway, just throwing it out there. I'm sure this thread will get locked for some reason...Roll

A lot of people there have lists of the major gank organizations. The main ones are CODE, Goonswarm Federation, and Sanctuary of Shadows. Obviously there are others as well, and many gankers in NPC corps. It's good practice to -5 any consistent gankers you see and monitor local for their presence.

There's a guy I know who's often around Jita or Amarr called "TheMeanPerson" who has a ridiculous number of alt accounts. Really ridiculous. I've been involved with ganking a lot I would say. I've seen the big players around highsec. Groups, or guys with slaved alt teams of tornadoes or catalysts doing freighter ganks I don't know a lot about. They get in and do their thing so fast I never really chat with them or have time to observe them over extended periods of time. In my humble estimation TheMeanPerson is THE most prolific single capsuleer ganker in EvE by a wide margin, though. I've watched him for a little over half a year now... he's really got it together. His gank machine is really amazing when you start seeing all the pieces. To think one guy is doing it... I don't know the answer to your question, OP. However, you might hit that guy up. If anyone knows, it's he.

This. The anti-ganking channel is full of incompetent fools and whining carebears that have nothing to say that could in any way be considered helpful. It's a cesspit of tears and petty bickering.

Shockingly enough, CODE., despite being an active ganking alliance, are one of the most helpful entities when it comes to learning how to prevent HiSec ganking. They actively seek to educate less experienced players on how to avoid a gank should they be willing to listen.

I have a plan for this thread. Weather it works out or not is a different story. Being rude was not part of that plan. (sorry again)

Thanks again for the info," I" just couldent find it on google. I "thought" I would get a better response from the victims.

There seems to be a data base for everything else in the game, why not a list of known gankers in the area your in. (my main would be on it) So like I said, I'm just as guilty.

But after seeing a noob I was trying to help get ganked, it occurred to me to at least ask.

Sorry for getting soft and caring!Twisted

Edit; See, in the time it takes to post, people in this game will do their BEST to help! Thanks!Shocked

It's a simple question...

Has anyone even bothered to make a list of corps. or alliances to watch out for?

And does CCP even allow for that?

I kinda figured that. What about an "unofficial" off site link? (or something like that)

And AGAIN, I'm just a guilty. I got ganked when I started, etc. I gank now. (well, not with this toon)

You got me thinking, so I'm going to add what advice I can about avoiding a gank based on what I've seen and done to people. If you are not using a cov-ops cloak and flying gate to gate, and someone really really wants to gank you, there is NOTHING you can do to avoid being ganked. NOTHING.

Using a cloak while warping is the only way you can technically avoid a gank.

In practice, the best way to avoid a ganker is to keep the value of your cargo below what it costs to gank you.

I blap T1 indys in a tornado. That's around 80-90 mil fit. If you are in an Iteron V and have $100 mil in cargo, that's a bad deal for me and I won't gank you. $200 mil? Waiting for something better. $1 billion? BLAP!

Be smart about what you haul... if you are pushing it, tank up! If you are over the line you're asking for trouble.

That's all.

I'm not aware of any comprehensive list. To be honest, the major concern is CODE. Outside of that, people only really gank for profit which means avoiding ganks in HiSec is basically as easy as tanking your ship such that it adequately protects the value of the items it's holding. Beyond that, few people will actually bother you so long as you remain in HiSec space.

Just ignore them. You are perfectly right to seek advice on how to prevent getting suicide ganked. Please go to the channel I linked earlier to get good advice from people experienced with stopping suicide ganks. Don't let the peanut gallery here discourage you, most of the negative comments are from the people here who do the suicide ganking.

Actually suicide gankers/AWOXers are some of the best guys to fall in with. Been a part of that community for quite a while - and have never seen a group as motivated and accepting as CODE. A very tight community that welcomes any player that can accept that EVE is a game where *anyone* can 'jump into your chili' - at anytime. If you can make that leap, congrats! You'll enjoy EVE and realize that New Eden is a laboratory chock full of unwilling specimens to perform social experiments on.

CODE. is the 'end game'. And you don't need to have trillions of ISK, or 150M skill points - or a personal fleet of Supercarriers to get there. You just need the right attitude.

I would like to point out that the anti ganking channel is about the worst possible place to get actual advice about ganking.

They offer up tips such as "don't fit a tank, they'll get you anyway", "claim it was haxx", "just keep sending petitions until the GMs give you back your ship", and finally, my personal favorite "repeatedly disconnect your client by opening up five dozen or more browser windows, so that you appear a hundred kilometers off the gate".

As to why they spread such lies, I can only surmise that they are mentally handicapped or do not actually play EVE Online.

This is completely not true btw. Anti-ganking enourages the use of robust tank, monitoring intel channels, and using smart gameplay to prevent ganking. They also have a good record at spoiling CODE suicide ganking. If you want to spend your time helping people, not hurting them, then anti-ganking is for you.

Lmao. They have a good record of being laughingstocks, and getting themselves wiped out. Oh, and lying to new players about stuff. The disconnect thing was great, by the way. I think it was Gorilla who put that one up, but idk really, eventually you all say the same mealy mouthed nonsense so much that you kind of blend together.

But hey, keep up that chestbeating, it just makes it funnier when the target dies anyway.

I really can't understand why you insist AG is better than MB for learning how to prevent ganks. On one hand you have a group of people who define themselves as the enemy of HiSec gankers, trying to give out advice in between their pointless bickering sessions which, often is inaccurate. On the other, you have the very gankers themselves not only willing to hand advice on how to protect yourself but are willing to let you tag along on their ganks so you can see exactly how they operate to better educate you on how to beat them.
