Do pirates hate battle cruisers?

So pirate faction ships have come in several varieties, frigs, cruisers, battleship (and even a carrier), but no battle cruisers? What's up with that? Any reason we don't have pirate battle cruisers to fly in the game?

Combat Battle cruisers need little bit more tweaking I feel before we should get the Pirate version of them

NPC's used to have BC's (Ferox, Cyclone etc). Now they only have ships that behave like them. Poor NPC's....

For the same reason we don't have Heavy Assault Battlecruisers (one would argue that Command ships kinda fill this role per say) or Logistics and Ewar battlecruisers?
Battlecruisers are to cruisers, what Destroyers are to Frigates. They are kind of a middle ground between Cruisers and Battleships fitting wise.

Battlecruisers are designed to fit medium weaponry and cruiser sized tank just as destroyers are designed to fit frigate sized mods.

We already have a pirate class ship to utilize every size module. For example:

  • Cruor = small sized energy drain modules
  • Ashimmu = medium sized energy drain modules
  • Bhaalgorn = Large sized energy drain modules

And the same goes for Sansha, Succubus = 1mn, Phantasm = 10mn, Nightmare = 100mn, etc...

Point being there is no module size between medium and large, and creating a whole new ship lineup that accomplishes essentially the same exact thing as their cruiser variant would be redundant.
This is why we don't have pirate destroyers either.

The design decision from CCP might be something entirely different from the above, but it would be my best guess.

Actually the real reason we don't have pirate battlecruisers is the same reason we don't have pirate destroyers. CCP hasn't made them yet.

I think the lore reason is that battlecruisers are a relatively recent innovation, and most of the pirate groups mostly use older technology.

Why this applies to the Guristas, I don't know.

I really like the Myrmidon and I really like pirate faction ships.

If CCP managed to combine the two, I would personally go to the next fanfest and knob gobble the entire dev team.

Sails are not widely-available in the proper size to propel a battlecruiser. Therefore, pirates stick to standard vessel sizes.

Could be something as simple as not having the logistic to keep up with more ship design in production. They are using souped up technology from different faction and most likely don't have the manpower, R/D, production base or whatever to bring more ship class.

I rarely try to say anything intelligent, since as a straight-up murder-spewing laser user thinking rarely comes into anything for me. But, this battle cruiser issue has always grabbed my attention. Why, for instance, is there no T2 straight up battle cruiser? Sure, you get the command ship, but a command ship could just as easily be a stand-alone specialized frame - such are mining vessels, or cargo carriers. Corralling the battle cruiser to fill a support role just defies its intent as a vessel.

"Battle" cruisers are meant to go into a field and just own period. They're meant to negate cruisers, destroyers, and turn frigates into flocks of canaries. Against a group of say...three or more (to be fair to someone's vanity) a battleship has no hope. Sure, I imagine a T2 Harby and drool all over myself. It would tilt the battlefield on its edge. (You Minmatar can be happy with the thought of a T2 Hurricane. After all, there is the premium brand of duct tape, right?)

(As an aside. I thought it was hilarious the first mention of fittings gets an energy drain and an engine - you're good to go. Just pull up to your victim, drain his cap, you win! Why DO we bother with all these guns, and missiles and drones?)

The right to free speech doesn't automatically carry with it the right to be taken seriously.
