am about to start training an alt to service my widow and while eventualy skills for many ships will be on it but what are the best first few to focus on?

was thinking arazu and loki. arazu to allow that extra range to widow and still keep point on the target loki as instalocking platform and nasty webs.

please help me if am mistaken and share your xperience.

I'd suggest a Rapier if you plan to be firing missiles and tackling.

A Blockade Runner to haul fuel can be helpful too.

If you're talking about duel boxing a Widow on the field, my first thought is: Don't do it.
It's an expensive ship, and you're going to want full attention on it.

So, the "best ships to aid the Widow" will be piloted by other pilots. As many as possible.

Now if you're talking about just using it as a jump platform,
Falcon
Arazu
Rapier
would be my first 3 choices.

With the covert subsystem it can. It can also light covert cynos with that.

Personally I am of the mindset that the widow is a liability not an asset.

Falcons get better more effective jams for less cost
Bombers will out DPS the widow every time
odds are your entire recon wing + bombers costs as much as your black ops
your scan res is horrible and you cant warp cloaked
And the tank is abyssmal and on BLOPS the tank is already bad enough
And then the new changes nerfing max jump range down to 5ly makes it suck worse especially with fatigue and cooldowns

I would wait until post patch when they finally rebalance the Black Ops before really investing too much in it
And thats coming from someone who owns 4 sins and a redeemer alt

It is fairly hard to catch a Widow.

One must use multiple warp scramblers, or they are guaranteed to escape using their MJD & JD.

All it takes is 1 scrambler landing at the right moment to turn off an MJD before it cycles and your dead in the water, anything that even has a point on you now has you locked down, if theres more on grid than you can jam, your probably dead, if you miss your jams at a critical moment your also dead. Especially given the sub par armor tank or loss of jams shield tanked.

Though i must give some credit where it is due, experienced widow pilots will be difficult to catch, and rapid heavy missile widows can put out enough DPS to peel off tackle frigates they cant jam. But for me ( as a widow pilot mind you ) I still think the risk just doesnt add up enough to make it worth the reward. I would rather drop my Sins or my Redeemer which have much more EHP, Slightly higher DPS on the sin and much higher on the demeer and have utility uses.

For example sins can be "hospital fit" for dropping into cyno jammed areas, Fitted with their own cyno to bring in triage when it hits the fan, Nuet fit, Smartbomb fit to get the pod, Drone DPS fit, spider tank fit, etc and the redemeer can be long range DPS fit or pulse brawler fit OR you can do something REALLY Stupid and put large artillery on a redeemer fleet, titan bridge them into system on a target, alpha it, and then instantly jump back out since you used no cap, its hilarious if youve never tried it.

Widows in my experience can do 4 things
1. Jam
2. Do meh DPS
3. Die
4. Taxi

( well ratting widows are a thing too so i guess that counts, but i would never do it personally )

They lack utility slots, and then all the other things i posted above that i Won't re-spam this thread with
