I see "obscene" names and bios in eve in my mother language but i never report because i don't feel offended. Some are ridiculous and some others are funny, but that is all.

In my country saying "boobs" it is not a sin and kids/teens don't have access to machine guns. I like my country. Most of the times.

I've never reported names either, I largely just take no notice of them. But I can understand those that do report names as some people find them offensive, I'd say especially older generations, although it's not exclusive to them.

I personally don't like people swearing all the time, it's just unnecessary. Sometimes I think the human race is devolving rather than evolving.

You think its adapting specifically in contradiction to its situation?

E.G. Growing gills in a desert or legs in the ocean?

Or that its wanting to have more local power to set taxes and organise local government?

See you're still true to form.

No, it sounds terrible, and somewhat like Woody Allen's "Sleeper"

Thank you.

I'm just not quite sure how considering words not within their context to be harmful, or assigning arbitrary levels of harmfulness where none is apparent to otherwise innocuous words is more progressive than the alternative.

Usually I'd say: Too much blabla in the OP by a typical bullshitter ...

... but ...

... but Anal Canal had his name for seven freaking years!

SEVEN!

And now he got it removed!

Da ****!

That's real bullshit!!

He might have a questionable humour towards genitals,
and tubes that serve as ways for the body to remove unwanted stuff,
but he's a nice guy!

He really is and this is just unfair!!

This really pisses me off!!

Yes, that is right.

Well i like my country but i'm not a fanatic. I don't mind paying taxes because sadly there are people who have to choose between buying food and paying the rent and they need healthcare protection, even if it is minimal and i really wish we all had a well paid job.

I don't want to derail the thread and since i already gave my opinion i leave it here.

Those arbitrary levels of harmfulness are those that you apply, not necessarily what everyone else does. Just because you don't perceive harm in a word doesn't mean that harm isn't perceived by someone else.

My point is; so what if they do take offense?

Why is that more important when its meaningless?

If I take offense at your name, does that mean your name is now inherently bad, or does it mean Ive chosen to react to it based on my own values which (by definition of most agreed on moral philosophy) I have no right to impose on you?

It's actually a very clever movie that does well to illustrate some issues in the world that anyone with a rational cell in their membranes can relate to. Ever argued with a creationist? You'll appreciate this move.

If you are a creationist though.... well, you'll probably end up siding with the electrolytes on this one.

Seven years was far too long. I can understand the annoyance especially if a character changes name after so long, I find they feel like a different character. But it is a risk you take if choosing names that are questionable.

Question is was the name changed because of the shake up in CCP or because people have been complaining about it.

People can change in 7 years, would he have named a character the same name now, if he hadn't had that one that he's got used to and has built a reputation with.

Would I appreciate it if I presume that the willfully ignorant cannot rise to power?

Also, does it mention the rest of the world or only the US of States?

How many people taking offense does it require before those values start to be worthwhile?

Pfft, as if I'm going to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it. Go watch it and find out.

That isn't what I said.

I asked if offense was more important than tolerance when the thing that is called offensive has no inherent meaning.

But you asking your question suggests that you think I would perfectly rational if I stated your name offended me for some equally meaningless reason.
