Hi all

hope this post doesn't come up twice. last one seems to have vanished into thin air.

Anyway I can't seem to get eve running like it should with this set up HP dv6-6xxx i7-2670QM 2.2ghz . 8 gig ram with the intel3000/Ati HD 6770m switchable graphics solution.

i have updated bios and the graphics drivers as best i can as HP do not allow you to use the ati drivers so you are stuck with their older ones. I have the card fixed so the 6770 does show in eve now so it is using the right card.

My problem is the frame rate drops to low levels during heavy activity eg: lvl 4 missions or entering systems like Jita etc.

Have tried turning all settings to low or off and including effects. this helps but not by much.

My old card which was a 5650 in an i5 tosh runs eve fine so I know thats not the issue. Hp's drivers seem to have been a bit of an issue so am after anyones ideas if you have managed to get this setup to work well.

thanks

Well, as far as im aware they have changed the naming convention for the 6000 series, they added a new card to it which has re arranged everything, so your 6770 it might sound like a good one, but actualy its the replacement for the 5730, so your old card 5650 is probly better not sure the comparison between the 5650 and 5730 but yeah prob the 50 is better

Edit: nvm its only for the 6800-900

seems i have to post twice to get one to work.....

Anyway thanks assasin, All my testing and rankings on the net suggest a decent jump in performance between the two so thats not the issue.

There was a problem with the HP setup for playing games as the drivers seemed to hobble the performance. Hence my interest to see if this is the prob or if it's just this computer.

Thanks for your reply though.

Have now tried a full re-install of eve just to make sure all new drivers and updates are clean. Still no luck. Guess that teaches me for going back to an HP laptop.

Any personal experiences with these HP setup would be welcome still.
