Wow overview is something, not easy to handle with.

I know there s alot of stuff in there and eve isn t easy to master also.

why not add like 4 item to overview menu appering when right click.

i would add a good gang profile and a good pvp profile

when you point your mouse on the line overview setting you should add a sub menu there with the most usefull setting.
and some like wrecks and giant secur container ----> there s a bug there not easy at all to get rid of those yellows box hanging in space.

If it could get easier to master in any way it would help alot of player.

Um, just make your own overview settings (or get them from corp-mates). There's no reason for CCP to add in more default ones, they're meant to be customized as-needed.

Be glad you have the ones you do, back when I started there was no skill queue and the two overview settings you got was default and mining. Everything else was custom. I sometimes miss alarm clock skill changes...

Mxzf and Gerrick, we're glad with what we have, but this is Features and Ideas forums after all! Be constructive.

Overview is indeed something that could use some more love from devs (as well as directional scanner). To tell truth, I haven't understood clearly what Mederik proposes, but I'll list my own remarks:

  1. Let us open as many overview tabs as we want. Like channels.
  2. Let us open several overview windows.
  3. Let us choose D-Scan setting separately from overview.
  4. Include columns and sorting into overview profile (so that loading a profile automatically changes sorting and columns).
  5. Allow us to group overview profiles in folders.
  6. Make overview profile settings apply in a more sensible way: let us choose the overview profile, work with it and save it under the current name or reject changes.
  7. In overview settings at bottom of the window: add buttons "save" and "save as...".
  8. Make it possible to display bookmarks on overview.
  9. Make anomalies and cosmic signatures that are scanned to 100% valid overview entries (like betls and complexes). Don't let them disappear after you leave the system.

The list doesn't really fininsh at this point.

I can really get on board with what your saying.

What I was able to translate from OP was that he wanted more presets brought up to current pvp standards, which dumbs down the game more. I understand that ease of use is important when your first playing the game, and I think that the current presets are great for the newer players. Part of making things difficult is the trial and error that allowed a player to actually understand why things are the way they are instead of thinking that it magically happens and that the devs need to hold there hands.

+1 to More over options and customizability

-1 to Dev handholding and more noncustom presets

SALVAGE

it would be a good start don t you think.

i don t think it would make the game lag because of those common.

The overview and game interface sucks. Oh, nothing new here.

I've seen tons of games with hella better UIs but don't encourage CCP, they might do something that isn't an epic fail.

Just a bit of help.

Go into overview settings with one tab open.

Click deselect all in the overview objects tab.

Go to ships and individually select all of these; optionally leaving out Industrials, shuttles, and Newb ships. Not really a good idea as you won't see them if you do.

Go to Celestial objects and select Star and Wormhole. Do not select Gates.

Go to Drones and select all drones.

Go to deployable devices and select Mobile Warp Disruptors.

Go to folder with bombs and select all of these.

Switch to states tab and remove agent is friendly/interactive and similar states.

Move to the next tab over where you will find filters.

Deselect any Alliance, Corp, Agent, and Fleet filters. Make sure to keep Neutrals selected. Switch to colortabs and set blink on Hostile tags and set them to small. Remove blink on backgrounds.

Go to Columns and Move objects up the list in this order: Icon, Distance, Type, Velocity, Radial Velocity, Transversal Velocity, Name. Select all these, and deselect everything else. Optionally, you may add Tags behind Icons.

Somewhere around there, you will find a selectable switch which shows EWAR. Make sure this is on.

Adjust your Overview to make all these are visible and resize the columns.

Right-click your Overview tab, and rename to Combat

Save from Overview as Combat, then open up the tab which indicates which Bracket Profile, and Overview profile, is used for each tab. Set both for that tab to Combat and close and save overview profile.

This is your basic Combat Overview for PvP.

Right click the tab on your overview and create a new tab. Name it Navigation.

Deselect all but Interceptors and small fast ships which can be used to tackle, and Interdictors.

Deselect all but Energy Draining Drones, and Stasis Webifying Drones.

Add Stargates.

Save as Nav Overview, and set show brackets to All.

This is your Basic Nav Overview.

Modify these for the last 3, depending on what you need.

Use Combat overview and change visibilty of Fleet, Corp, and Alliance to on, while deselecting the others for a Fleet Overview. Set Brackets to Fleet.

Use Nav, and select Wrecks and Ore Type you want to mine specifically; while removing Stargates and Neutrals, and switching Show Empty Wrecks and Viewed Wrecks to on, for Mining and Salvaging. Set brackets to show all.

Etc...

edit:

Forgot: There is another tab which shows info on ship when Mouse-over on it. Move the Ship type to top, then Pilot name, then Corp and Alliance. Set do not show Corp if in Alliance. This gives you quick info that may be helpful on a quick mouseover of any pilot.
