New Trader Account, a question regarding trade alts.

I've got it in my head that I need a second account for a dedicated trader. It's something i've been futzing with on my main, but being in w-space all the time doesn't really lend itself to trading and keeping up with my orders in general.

My initial plan was to train a trader on the account and spend some time developing tertiary skills I might utilize later, perhaps eventually growing it into a leadership alt or something. I then stumbled upon a few trade guides suggesting that a very limited number of trade skills were actually necessary to do the job, which brought me to the second idea of simple training three traders (on the same account) one by one, witch each in it's own hub station.

The way I see it there are pros and cons to both approaches. The benefit of having more regions covered is a big plus, but not singling out one character will mean a nightmare of standing grinds ahead of me (x3) if I attempt to reduce my taxes a bit. I suppose this breaks the question down into two parts:

1. Are three lightly-trained trading alts on one account better than one heavily trained trading alt?

2. How much fuss is the standing grind at present (is it worth the time)? I haven't really run mission in years except to raise my sec status.

I think the idea of being able to see 3 separate regions for trading is a wonderful idea. Plus I think it only takes some 22 days to get a fully trained in trading. So I don't see this being a problem at all.

To answer the first question, three traders is better than one. No question. However, your second question I don't have an answer to because I don't bother with standing grinds. Factor in the tax margin and you can turn a profit with zero trade skills trading the right stuff. Having uber standing really only becomes a must-have when you're dealing in mega-volume tiny-margin items.

As Thgil said, the training time required to get a trade alt from zero to fully functional is negligible. In three months your trio will be functional and then you're free to pick one of them to convert into that leadership alt you first had in mind. Have your cake and eat it. =)

Perhaps, but if you're paying for three accounts you could just as easily buy two plex/month and have an extra 800 mil/month with no effort.

OP: www.eve-central.com is an amazing resource. For volatile items or those with very thin margins you may want to check the prices personally, but in general it's rather useful.

Or you could read the OP and realize he's talking about having the three on the same account vOv.

Once they are up and running, anyone that has a separate account dedicated to trading shouldn't be paying out of pocket for either account.

As far as what skills you need it depends on your style of trading. If you are trading in one station you obviously don't need skills to set up buy orders 40 jumps away. If you only trade in 20 items at a time = no point in training up tycoon.... you get the picture. Figure out how you will be trading and adjust accordingly.

I also suggest you train your charisma heavy skills first then remap and forget the skills forever.
Also don't forget yer friendly +3 implants - they are cheap and save time.
