I was interested in training into HICs. Does this module create a "drag" bubble or does it only keep ships on field from warping? Pirate

All bubbles ('Dictor, HIC, anchorable) can act as drag (or stop) bubbles if they're properly placed.

Cool. So what would be the advantages or disadvantages when compared with interdictors? P

Tank, and also, infinite point.

Cons: Slower, more expensive, harder to train for, you are always present with your bubble (i.e. you can't "drop and run" like a 'Dictor).
Pros: More durable, more utility outside of nullsec since you can script your WDFG to serve as a long-range infinite point.

'Dictors and HICs are very nice complements to each other; since they serve in similar yet slightly different roles, neither one makes the other obsolete.

Fully trained, a HIC bubble is quite a bit larger than a standard interdictor bubble, 24km vs 20km. Even at HIC IV the HIC T2 bubble is 23km. Also a remote sensor boosted infini point makes people with lows full of warp stabs in low sec cry hard.

HICs are also the only way to point a super in low sec.

Interesting. Did not know about the differences in bubble size. Thanks. Cool

Since it appears you are "new" to bubbles. Be aware that a drag bubble must be put down prior to someone initiating warp. Otherwise they will warp to their intended location, regardless if the bubble is up when they land on grid with you.

Additionally the drag bubble must be inline from where they initiate warp and their destination.

Both the DIC & HIC are two ships that every fleet wants to have. (Almost as much as a logistic ships)

A double bubble DIC is more versatile for a small gang pvp.

Dictors can only fit one bubble launcher these days. Although now they can launch 3 bubbles fairly quickly but have a 60s reload.

A T1 HIC bubble generator needs HIC V to equal a standard inderdictor bubble of 20km. The T2 HIC bubble is a somewhat long train (Graviton Physics V), but it really makes the HIC stand out from the more common inderdictor with its noticeably larger size.

The HIC bubble can also be turned off like any other active module and its 30 second duration makes it faster to "unbubble" your fleet if needed instead of waiting out the two minute duration of a standard inderdictor bubble or bothering with smart bombs. Also, its hard to smart bomb a HIC off the field, unlike a warp disrupt probe.

However normal interdictors are cheaper, easier to train for, able to kill off frigates quite well, and generally don't stay on the field. They tend to drop their bubble and run so they sometimes have a better chance of surviving a fight.

HIC pilots have a faintly better shot at getting their pod out compared to dictor pilots who pretty much always lose it.
