Trying to get my head around the idea of Rage rockets in particular. The basics are that they have trouble with 'small targets' because of explosion radius/speed right?

At what point does this result in less damage applied to enemy frigates?
Is it okay to use rage against everything except interceptors?

What about the Warhead Flare Catalyst rig? Does one of those make a significant difference? It's only 50 calibration.

Going faster than the explosion velocity = Reduction in damage, depending on how much faster you are.
Having a smaller sig radius than the explosion radius = Reduction in damage, depending on how much smaller.

You're probably not going to run into much of a difference with rockets. The numbers are small enough that you're almost always going to have a lower explosion radius. As for the explosion velocity, it's a 10m/s difference, when your targets are likely doing over 400m/s. probably nothing.

The speed difference in Rage rockets is quite small, and you generally won't notice a difference unles sfighting fast, untackled targets. More important is the explosion radius, which will have a significant effect on anything smaller then standar (eg inties). Smaller and faster... yeah don't use them on that.
