No.... thinking is not the problem. Opening mouth prior to thinking is the problem.

what still amaze me is that many of the comments have no constructive pro or cons, they just try to riddicule the OP... When are you kids gonna grow up? Either give the OP an serious answer or just refrain from writing shite.

To OP, i agree that a different way to move betwene systems would be fun, but the point mentioned from a other poster, that jumpgates is what defines EVE... ect ect.... is a valid point that cant be denied.

This thread reminds me of the trip my daughter had me make, a few days ago. She basically wanted me to pay for and take her to see the Janoskians.

1) completely wrong part of the forums.

2) immediately dismissed criticism as trolling (which ironical paints a massive "troll me" sign on the op's face)

3) proposed idea is essentially "make it not eve "

The Great Karnak predicts that this thread won't go well.

BTW letting ships do interstellar travel on their own in any direction they like *would* mix things up a bit and if every system had variable security elements pertaining to "inner" and "outer" zones we would not be locked into these low/null/high sec areas.

Imagine if you will (another game perhaps) where if you are in the core of the solar system, say from the sun to "sustainable life distance" which would be from the star to 1 AU and maybe 5 AU you had space police or Concord, stations, and al that good stuff and there you get easy missions and cheap ore.
But beyond that you get out past the reaches and concern of space police and faction navies don't have much to worry about and are scarce. There you get more risk and ISK.
Then go out further and it's purely lawless. Cynos, bubbles, drops, drugs, walnuts... anything you want. Exploration in deep space, maybe even scores of AUs out and the D-scan becomes laughable.

All in one system.

Don't anybody try to tell me that would be a bad thing. Segregating regions by security status has not really turned out well. Forcing every ship through Fatal Funnels feels arbitrary (like SOV mechanics for example). Only those whose stats depend on the status quote are apt to defend it.

The ships warp between systems just like they are warping to an in-system destination - such as a belt, bookmark, anom or station - at the same rate as a ship's current warp speed - so warping across the cluster will take both fuel and time

Lol Have fun warping from Dodixie to Agrallarier in just under 2.5 hours in your battleship.

My 'stats' don't depend on it, gates don't help me kill npcs any faster. Gates ARE arbitrary, you need something to bring people into contact with one another other than just stations or npc complexes or asteroids. Did CCp years ago give us statistics (at a fanfest?) that showed the VAST majority of ship kills (you know, those explosive events that make the EVE economy a thing) happens within 100km of a gate.

Why anyone would want to do away with THE must successful killing fields in the entire game (a game that needs things to explode) is beyond me.

I feel the need to put in a sentence from the old EVE intro:

"The creation of stargates allowed bridging the immense distances between the stars".

So...basically the OP wants CCP to re-write the entire game from scratch.

EDIT: When CCP introduced wormhole-space, I think that was their attempt to implement some of these ideas.

Just make people use gates in 0.0 and everything will be fine.
People shoud use gates, not just totaly avoid them.

So throwing up a few idea's - probably all done to death but couldn't find the "what was already discussed about improving Eve Online so don't post again" thread
The forum would be grateful I you would not throw up in it.
And yes, 'done to death' is correct.

Thread locked.
