Hello,

Is target painting bonus shared to others member of the fleet? The symbol don't appear to them, but that would be strange it is not given...

Also, can you confirm that defender missiles only work for your ship? A pity really!

A target painter increases the signature radius of the targeted ship. The signature radius is a property of the enemy ship, not your weapons, so it will be increased for anybody attacking the target.

A similar idea: a stasis web doesn't just slow down the enemy ship for you, it slows it down for everyone.

The effects of a Target Painter on a target ship can be taken advantage of by anyone and everyone. The same applies to any and all Ewar.

And defender missiles are basically useless. They only cancel out one missile in a group of missiles... and sometimes not even that (due to lag).

but should the painted ship not show an icon for everyone in your fleet targeting it and not only for you? I think this is the standard in MMO, if you inflict a penalty on a mob, the icon is seen by others players. This would be much more friendly I believe.

As for defender, my dream was to have a light ship with defender missiles orbiting an heavier ship, and intercepting some of the incoming missiles. :)

First... stop with the F-ing "but in other MMOs"... those are other games and thus have their own rules, UI and gameplay.

Your UI only shows what you have on your targrt.

If it showed every single persons action, good luck with 1000 vs 1000 fights and eendering everything people do to the person you have targeted.

Also, why would we need to see what any other person has on a target in terms of EWar.

P.s.

All EWAR has it own graphical effects, visible to anybody.

A target painter on a target is quite visible as a red laser....visible to others.

Not that it matters as a good fleet KNOWS what Ewar is applied and to who (either by prearranged RoE or by a thing called voice confirmation for example: Jam on [insert pilot name])

I am a fan of simple answers :

a) target painters 'tag' the ship you are target painting. everyone and their moms will have a better time shooting the 'tagged' ship

b) yes and they suck. dont bother

This game purposely does not include certain comforts that other MMOs have. Letting your fleet mates know with a nice friendly icon if you have a target painter (for example) on the enemy ship is one of those comforts EVE doesn't have. Think about it this way. If you were actually in a ship, and had an enemy targeted, how would your buddy in the next ship over know you targeted that enemy, other than you actually saying something to him?

Now defender missiles: You won't need defender missiles to orbit a heavier ship without getting hit. Bigger ships cannot hit anything and everything in the game. In fact, battleships (for example) simply cannot hit small/fast frigates. The tracking is slow enough that unless you approach the battleship head-on, they will never hit you. A battleship will not kill a frigate with guns/missiles. It will more than likely keep a flight of light drones capable of taking the frigate out.

If your dream is to take out big ships with small ships, worry about taking damage from drones, not the ship.

If you don't know what I mean by 'tracking', look at this: http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0910/eve-tracking101.swf

Although, reading this again, if you really want to take out big guys with a small/quick ship, take a look at stealth bombers.

EDIT: the tracking info I gave you is not for missiles, but no one really uses missiles in PvP anyway (other than stealth bombers)
