What to do after tutorials?

I'm looking to do exploration/wormhole stuff. Should I even bother with running missions after the tutorial stuff to gain a standing with npc factions or go straight for what I want to do?

Go straight for what you want to do ..

A) its a game .. do what you want to have fun
B) dont need standing in exploration .. i dont think

unrelated .. many people suggest doing the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc mission thing its lv 1 stuff .. a bit long .. but will make your travel around the various empires, make you some isk, get you used to some more game mechanics and has a good story. I just did it for the first time with my vet account for giggles and enjoyed it.

but if you want to explore .. i say give'r learn the exploration thing then worry about finding a WH corp to get into

Awesome. Thank you very much. That sister's of eve thing sounds pretty good. I think I'll shoot for that right out of the gate if it gets me used to the game a bit more. I've messed with eve very little on and off through out the years. Still very much a newb. Hoping that it holds my interest this time though.

I was looking at the Astero and Stratios also. Doing a sister's of eve story arc would help with immersion.

2. Never, ever run missions or mine. It's boring. Statistically speaking you will quit the game within 3 months if you choose this path.

1. Don't rush out and join a corporation until you know what you expect from it.

2. By all means try mission running or mining, you may like it and find it anything but boring. If you find you don't like it and are anything resembling a normal human being, you won't quit – you'll look for something more to your liking amongst the many other activities the game offers. Those who quit for such trivial reasons lack the imagination/intelligence to find other things to do and probably shouldn't be in EVE at all.

3. Don't join a corporation unless you have examined all the pros and cons and decided that's the way you want to go.

4. Whatever you choose, have fun. If it isn't fun, don't do it.

The exploration part is certainly something you can do solo in the vast emptiness of null.

You'll lose a lot of ships before getting a handle on the ways of lawless space so start with a T1 frig and a cloak. As you become more adept at staying in one piece, you can move up into more expensive/specialized ships.

The wormhole experience is much more enjoyable if you have a corp at your back. The ships required to make ISK are more expensive and take some time to train in to. Having some experienced corp mates around will make the time to train pass that much faster.

As to missions and NPC faction standings. Neither is necessary for what you want to be doing. As well, the sooner you get out of high sec, the sooner you'll get a feel for the mechanics that you need become proficient in using for the path you are interested in.

Definitely the SoE epic arc, it's a good introduction to PVE combat and can make you some spare change as well.

Once you're done with that, gear up an exploration frigate and start venturing around 0.5-0.7 systems. Once you can fit a cloak (preferably T2) you're good for low-sec, and once you can fly a covops frigate you're good for null. You mentioned the Astero, and I fly one, but be aware that they run you for a lot more ISK than the T2 covops frigates. The tradeoff is that they're easy to fly (shorter skill train), but if you're really going to get into exploration then you'll want to train up the T2 frigates.

If you're really interested in WH life then you're going to want to join a corp. To stay long-term in a WH you'll practically need a POS for ship storage, item storage, fitting, or just somewhere safe to log off. Keeping a WH POS fueled is an effort, so it's best to share the benefits with fellow corp members. WH exploration is different because you have to combat sleepers who require beefier ships to tackle.

Immediately jump into lowsec with a frigate and let yourself get killed by a pirate. Start a conversation with him saying you want to learn the game. Act eager/happy to learn. Ask questions like "how did you find me?", and "was I in the right ship?" That pirate will be impressed with you because 1. you didn't stick to missioning/mining as a young player and 2. you wanted to learn when you were killed, instead of rage quititng. Most of the time that pirate will give you between 10 and 100 million isk for being "the right kind of newbie"


Rinse and repeat, you are on your way to being space-rich.

Go for what you want to do, some corp somewhere will take you. You can't afford to be to picky though.

But yeah this game effectively leaves you at a dirty bus station in the bad part of town with only enough money to make it to Nowhereville, Iowa.

Part of the tutorial should include actual rookie ship pvp with civilian mods. Where you fly out and engage another player and win or lose return back to the agent.

Also the game should have a tutorial that walks you through finding your first player corp.
