Um if i wanted private roid belts I'd just do security mishs till i got a safe belt......which is what i think you are inferring. I made a cruiser that rocks out under MWD at over 3k/sec i used to entertain myself when there was static ice. Maybe been in it once or twice since the ice Change.

What? No I was clearly talking about ice anomalies. And yeah, mission belts are extremely safe, feel free to mine them in an untanked Hulk.

Ice or rocks..... safe is safe.... and I used to all the time. If you catch me mining come kill the Kool-Aid. I haven't actually mined outside a lvl4 mining mission for quick standings in a while tho....

You Miners think you have it so damn tough.  When I first started playing we didnt even have mining lasers.  You had to fly close to an asteroid.....pop a hatch and gnaw at it with your teeth.   - Bitter Vet

There used to be Ice in level 4 Ice mining missions, fake Ice for the mission and real Ice for your trouble.

They were melted away by Null bear tears though Sad

It's a no-brainer. We'd get a ton of people logging back into the game.

I'm not saying one way or the other whether it would be a good change or not. Just answering the OP.

Mr Epeen Cool

If someone "jumps your claim" (which should be entirely possible) they forfeit all Concord protection.

It should always be apparent if a particular resource has a claim on it or not.

Selling or giving someone the rights to mine from a "claim" that you own should be perfectly doable.

Some resources deplete quickly... and when gone so is the claim.

Some resources stick around a long time (and are in high demand) but the claim may still be short term and not instantly renewable by the same person unless a very stiff price is paid for a "long term claim".

Needless to say, in all cases there should be no accurate way to determine when a particular resource is due to play out, ESPECIALLY in the case of resources worthy of an expensive "long term claim".

Mining should always be a little bit of a gamble.

This, this yes DO THIS.

Is it any different than one person logging in 30 times?

False. Just in the short time I've been playing, they undid loot spew from exploration containers.

If anything, they need to do the same thing with asteroid belts they did with ice belts.

indeed, plus that takes us one more step in the journey to the land of no downtime!

I wasnt aware they had left.

The ice belt in Warouh lasted about two hours maximum yesterday due to the two dozen locusts that fell on it.

Unless you mean have them hang around the one place longer?

You mean...2 full hours?

On my way with the fleet to Warouh...i have never seen an ice belt lasting more than 30 minutes...

Don't get all excited. 2 hours would be truly exceptional.

I've got a friend who has operations in the region and he tells me those belts last 40 minutes max. and that is immediately after downtime. Average is in the 20-30 minute ballpark.

This is getting ridiculous, four moderation posts in the last two pages and in total more posts removed than are left in the thread. Le sigh....

I have again removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.

Tanked Skiff and half a brain you can avoid any gank. Static belts just made it easier for gankers to post up in a system.

Limited ice belts of today, in the same systems, still make it easier just do not give full time targets when they are down. Gankers actually have to move around a bit (minus some regions where ice belts are stacked like crazy).

BOT's and multi-boxers are everywhere still. Some using ISO Boxer to control twenty plus barges (aka accounts) with one set of keyboard and mouse.

Watch the population in Agal, when the belt is up their is over 40 barges (mostly skiffs) plus Orca's and Freighters. Great example of the above. You decide bots or ISO Boxer?
