I like rooting for the underdog and see the most powerful collapse. It is healthy to keep things fresh to see instability amongst those vying and controlling for power.

The only people I dislike are the transient sludge who flip alliances to support the winning side.

Then you like the old goons as I once did.

I'm only speculating, but the core probably moved on to another game (remember the conan on line break) and left the wrong guys at the helm. A lot of them are playing mech warrior. Maybe 'the core' goons left and eve actually is serious spaceships for goons now.

A lot of folks are heading that way. It's a pretty good game and the company running that game is pretty in tune w/ the players. They don't have the 10yr old legacy code to deal with. Then again, they don't take a dump on thier players and back it up w/ a high brow 'we know what's best' attitude. There aren't 90+ page threads in their forums telling them how bad something is, So there are some differences in their corporate business model. It's all the talk on various wh comms.

I resub annually, so my decision day is a few months down the road. We'll see I guess.

99.995% of the time - they dislike the Goons for the same reason they joined Ripard Teg on his wild witch-hunt against Erotica 1 - they don't know a single goon, they have never talked to any of them, they don't know anyone who has ever even been involved in anything involving the little bees - but they have VERY STRONG opinions about them that are based on third hand information that someone told them who knew someone who might have known someone who heard it from a totally trustworthy source that someone who knew someone once got scammed by someone who might have been connected with someone who once was a goon once knew back in 2007. The other 00.005% of the time? They got their internet spaceship shot full of holes by the CFC :P

That, or they just needed to make a load of cash by selling ad-space on their blog before quitting the game after starting a massive witch hunt that neither the "evil one" or the "victim" ever wanted and that was over two months before our internet space detective even heard of it.

Always bet on the ignorance of the plebs, Tora :P They have VERY STRONG opinions, and if you let them they will gladly give you 5,000 pages of reasons why :)

Ignorance, I love my goon pals and I love talking to their recruiters in the recruitment channel when I am bored :D.

Ran into an ex BoB member a few months back, amazed how angry that fellah was.

I went to war against Goons a few times and even went to attack them in null sec. But it was never really about disliking them. Instead it seemed cool to go up against a bigger group as part of a smaller group. That was basically it. I dislike blobs in general to be honest.

As for some people saying they are ruining Eve, well I find that funny because they don't really ruin it for me. If another big group was as dominant in the game as Goons are now, people would be saying the same things about them.

It would be funny to out all the goon alts in other corps. RvB for instance. Just to see the agahst looks on folks faces when it dawns on them that the cool dude they've been flying w/ for the past year is actually a goon alt.

Moral of the story. Every time you get 100 dudes together (1000 dudes in this case) you'll get the whole spectrum of humanity. The 80% in the middle of the pack - you never notice them... they are normal and blend in. The last 20% (the 10% on the top and bottom end of whatever spectrum you are looking at)... well they stick out as being particularly bad or good - those are the guys you remember.

So there are 1000 goons (in this example). 800 of them you'll never notice. The 100 acts of kindness on the top you take for granted for the most part. The 100 acts of wickedness - those you remember.

Kindness from a goon?? Is that possible?? I dunno.... have you ever read 'grid fu'??

I have no particular like or dislike for Goonswarm. I have flown with Goons and I have flown against Goons. The only difference I noticed at the time was the names of those that got primaried.

Their line members have a reputation for being offensive and rude, but I see far worse language and more abusive tirades elsewhere. Many of them are notorious scammers, but, again, no worse than any trade hub.

Their leadership is smart. They essentially provide content on-demand for their members, which gives them a huge edge in terms of morale and available numbers. This makes them hard to beat, which in turn makes them easy to hate.


Remember folks hating Goons just creates content...and fuels the Swarm.

Their wiki might have something to do with it.

Personally I can't complain too much about Goons. I was a carebear like any other until Hulkageddon. It really opened my eyes to what the game could offer. I never looked back.

But yeah, if I was gay... or black... I'd probably be quite annoyed.
