the [F11] key

In the several years I have been playing this game I have attempted to make use out of the maps brought up by the [F11] key maybe only half a dozen times. I have never found them to be useful. Obviously it is quite possible that they are much more useful then I have been able to understand. Every other time I have hit that button it was a mistake.

The two maps both brought up by the [F10] key (solar system and the star map) are very useful and I use them both constantly. It is however a slight inconvenience to not be able to switch between the two map modes quickly (is there a hotkey i am missing?). A lot of times when I am using the map the, map panel goes missing then i need to hunt for it to switch modes. Sometimes even a few fractions of a second can make a big difference. More often it is just a slight hassle.

I would like to suggest that the maps from the [F11] key be scrapped or put somewhere else and let the other two maps which both currently share the [F10] key each have their own key. I would like to bring up the solar system map or the universal map at any time with a single keystroke. Obviously I have managed this long this way, it isn't breaking the game as it is. It would simply make it a little bit better IMHO.

I am also genuinely curious do other people use the maps in the [F11] key?

F11 key is essential (or at least helpful) for D-Scanning ships and locating what planet they are closest to.

Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch.

I do actually recall using the bottom panel to help me with D-scan when I first started out. It is helpful for visualization when you are learning. I don't use it anymore though.

Good point though.

I also used the F11 map to learn d-scanning, but after learning you really don't need it any more. I get your point though and agree - the useful map for D-scan is also only the bottom one. There are several other windows though aside from the bottom one, are they meant to be used for something?

I use the F11 regularly to see what systems enter into constellations to set up scouts/camps without having to deal with the main star map as it stands you can re-bind the F11 key to something else and if CCP can i don't see why they shouldn't separate the solar system map and the universe map so they could be bound to their own keys

+1 for more options

this is actually a good idea. but I suggest SHIFT+F10 (or such), due to F11 still having a function.

if it has a hot key you can set it yourself if CCP added a new one odds are it won't be bound by default
