Compressed ore does it sell?

Hello,

Since I put up a POS a while ago (in high-sec) and was checking out the changes in reprocessing (I din't play for 4 months). I noticed that the compressed ore sells for higher then if I reprocess it into minerals. Now I was thinking: does the compressed version sell good? I know I can check this somewhere but I don't know precisely where...

If somebody can point me in the right direction or just knows if it sells good that would be a real help!

it should sell very well, however i expect fewer people follow the compressed ore market. specifically because there is very little compressed ore for sale at trade hubs. so either it sells to buy orders, it sells too quickly to be seen, or those who have it refine it in a POS somewhere else.

just look at where regular ore is priced, and price at the necessary multiple. this will let you 0.01 isk the market standard easily, with less competition (at least until more people get access to ore compression). what you have is functionally ore, but with increased utility, so i expect you will have no problem selling it.

Thanks, for the info! I guess I'm going to compress it then!

I also saw that I can view the quantity sold by pressing price history and then show table, so that's is solved too (and yes it indeed sells very good)Big smile

It sells very well but the value is based on geography and your willingness to haul it. Certain null sec cry baby groups (think the biggest bunch of whiners in the game) think that you should work for nothing to supply them with ore, don't believe it. Your profit margins on compressed ore should be 20-40% over the same in uncompressed form, which is more than reasonable based on the amount of time and effort it takes to get it to market.

Well since I already sold and compressed my ore on my own (with a 29% marginBig smile), I think that this is not that kind of thread...

Did you haul it to a good buy order, or did you have enough quantity so that a buyer was willing to pick up from your location?

I hauled it to a good buy location, since I am not a uber miner I can never get so much quantity to get a buyer pick it up at my location...

Do not sell compressed ore - reprocess it in high sec pos and build stuff yourself.

Right after Crius, I started compressing ices and ores and selling them in Amarr. They didn't sell quickly because there was no established market for them, but when they did sell they sold for considerably more than their uncompressed counterparts.

Hauling compressed ores around is easier than hauling either minerals or ores, so that makes them inherently more valuable. Especially now that it much more cost effective to build further away from trade hubs where system cost indices are lower, hauling of raw materials has become a bigger concern. And now with "perfect" refines being harder to achieve, it makes even less sense for a miner to sell raw minerals unless their refining skills are already maxed out.

Compressing your ore nets you significantly more profit than simply selling the refined minerals. The value of the compressed ore is higher than minerals because compressed ore can be shipped to null to be refined for up to 20% more minerals. Therefore, they are paying higher prices for compressed ore than they are for minerals.

The below information was from last week, but still applicable:

(13.3% loss) Compressing it increases the value to 2200 (20.9% profit)

100 Scordite = 3162.00 isk. Refined =250.504 trit, 125.252 pyer = 2674.13 isk (15.4% loss) Compressed = 3500.00 isk (10.6% profit)

100 Pyroxeres = 6425.00 isk. Refined = 254.124 trit, 18.1 pyer, 36.2 mex, 3.62 nocx = 6064.44 isk (5.6% loss) Compressed = 7599.99 isk (18.3% profit)

I tried ore compression, but won't be continuing with it. I found I had to do too much hauling, despite even purchasing a small faction tower (takes 6 minutes to anchor & 6 minutes to online) to carry around with me.

I found that one has to be very careful where they place buy orders for ore, and the area they cover, or you can end-up doing a silly amount of hauling.

I was surprised to discover that the distance calculating algorithm for orders will cross regional boundaries. This seems new to me, or I just never noticed before.

Example: Region 1 System A → Region 2 → Region 1 System B = 2 jumps, rather than stopping at the Region 2 border.

My ore buy orders tended to result in the highest density of ore per station around trade hubs, so people that have a reasonable amount of ore to sell, are already hauling it and not compressing it. Odd, as I was willing to haul it for them!

This is the core of the problem that we've discussed with the current state of compression. Yes, there is ore available, but you'd get better isk/hour doing l4 missions than moving around that much ore manually.

People need to know how easy getting into compression is:

Small POS (any race).
Compression array.
10 fuel blocks
1 Star Base charter.
Skills required is Anchoring 1.

So how is this done? Find an unoccupied moon in your desired system. Warp to moon. Launch the POS for corporation. Anchor POS. Bookmark where the POS begins setting up. 8 minutes for the POS to anchor. Go to the POS. Place 10 fuel blocks and 1 charter into the tower's fuel bay. Online the tower. 8 minutes for the POS to online. Once online launch the compression array for corporation. Anchor the array, 5 seconds. Online the array, 5 seconds. Bring all your ore to be compressed.

You have one hour to complete the compression operation. When you are finished, unanchor the array and store in a Station. Leave the POS anchored BUT offline in location.

If you desire storage space for your ore, anchor large secure containers near the tower. I never activate the shields. Not necessary. If wardeced, you have 24 to remove the anchored tower. If you have LOTS of ore, place 2 or more hours worth of fuel in the tower. If you want to refine? Anchor a refining array and receive better yield than a station.

Mine to your heart's content. When ready compress.

Cost of small pos and array in Jita approximately 65mil.
