Hello,

it has been a couple of time since CQ has been released.

1. Now, nothing has been done yet, I don't understand whats going on any why players simply can't meet together at the station?
2. Where are the game concepts for the 3d avatar in the EVE universe?

First, I want to determine that the Character-Creation tool is one of the best I've ever seen in a game.
It's really too bad and a big waste if we can't really take advantage of this as a result of lacking content.

I talked with lots of players, most are afraid that EVE would become some kind of SIM with hairdressers, etc. Also some complained that its useless in the EVE concept and that they don't like that CQ takes so much time at docking, thats why they cancel it.

But all people I was talking to also agreed that it would be cool if we could create our own stations by modules step by step in which we can also walk with the avatars. And most also agreed that it would be awesome to combine those features like:

- Ship fights..and after a station has been shot down (station = unlocked)

- enterable stations ..with inside station fights ( limited people) for a final decision

if CCP would also work out their FPS that would be really awesome.

I think there are serveral aspects in the game that easily could be enhanced with a certain "station" or "planet" fight..in EVE of course.

Imagine the game-depth that such features would bring:
- craftable Station Modules for your hangars
- bunches of Weapons&Equip for you avatar, 3d models and think of the loot that could be used as trophies in the hangars ( cigarettes, etc)
- PI: if something needs to be repaired you have to visit the planet, etc => 3d visualisation of PI infrastructures, same is to say to labs in space etc: make them walkable and enterable in pvp

If everything could be looted in pvp and sold...awesome precious gameconent in an mmo, that provides a certain game depth.

Of course the spaceship gamplay also should be enhanced and developed, but a combination of both to offer new possibilities would give the game a certain meaning.

Would it be nifty? Sure.

Would it be practical? If implemented properly.

Is it going to happen any time soon? Nope.

CCP has already taken many gambles in the past few years, most of which have not panned out. They're now realigning their focus to internet spaceships, the one thing that really makes them money. WIS is an ancillary project, and will be treated as such for the indeterminate future.

True, as nothing further has been developed so far. I am missing creative game concepts that actually enrich the game. Why?

Easily answered:

Your Character is your capital. Its the most important thing in eve you have. Players do invest a lot into their chars, its work and also really a lot of time that has to be invested and there are also lots cool texts in the bios that tell an actual history of each player.

Player want to show this of course.

As a result of this, there is a certain need that things can be shown. Things like badges and looted trophies...your character is wearing. So others can see what you actually archieved..what kind of player you are...or if you are just another man at the bar of some station.

Players should see if you are a sucessfull headhunter or a mean m*********** pirate, if you are an FC, a vice or just a new recruit.

And what's more suitable for that matters than a unique character-avatar, customized and equiped with items and certain badges visible for all players of a station?

Combining this with stationfights (as you can see in the EVE movies) would push the EVE universe into its next dimension and enhance the content in an awesome way imho.

Nothing is going on. It's a failed and abandoned tech demo.

And the character creator is not even that good any more — it offers an interesting UI for some facial features using high-quality assets, but only within a very narrow box that depends on the starting point of the character race and without any real or useful modification of the rest of the body or of anything that remotely resembles proper posing (of face or body).

I've honestly never understood the WiS crowd. I think there are other games out their to satisfy their needs. If ccp spent developement man-hours on WiS intead of more actual content, I would be highly pissed off.

As a friend of mine is fond of saying, "You knew what I was when you paid for me..."

This is a game about internet spaceships pew pewing. There are other, more "socially" themed games where you can hang out all day if you like. I hear "Second Life" is pretty popular.

As you can see, we are all eve players. Some are ok with content that exists since 10+ years, some aren't.

EVE always has changed, thats what actually makes EVE fascinating and interesting for serveral years.

A stagnation in content-developements also would mean a stagnation of new players, and if the old ones get bored or switch to a newer persistant univers that combines ALL of that features, you someday will play alone in EVE maybe, probably very soon - tell me, who of us wants that?

The only way of senseful developement future progress in EVE beside fixings and revamping of existing features (ships, turrets, etc) is enhancing the content by completing serveral aspects.

WIS is not pinin'! Its passed on! This feature is no more! It has ceased to be! it's expired and gone to meet its maker!
It's a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! Its metabolic processes are now history! It's off the twig!
It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!
THIS IS AN EX-FEATURE!!

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

Hi,

I just partly agree. Here is why:

First, the "big" mistake of CCP was to release and show features of WIS that had no certain evidence to be justified in the game itself. There was simply no reason for it - for example those mini-table games: Its a nice feature - but dth, who would need it for EVE?

Means what CCP did was offering nice macro-solution ideas instead of developing an enhanced valid and stable game-concept that actually would create a certain need for WIS, too.

Like boarding ships or enemy stations after they got unlocked for example. Because this way it would be a useful enhancement, a certain need.

If your ally wants to conquer areas they not only have a) just to fight to b) blow away poses and stations, no - if you really want to win you c) dth will have to put your lazy ass out of your ship to the boarded station and show how good you really are by destroying, looting and capturing everything inside to finally win the FPS station fight for a final game-result.

Thats why it's called an enhancement that keeps things more interesting for longer times, senseful chirugically step-by-step integrated into existing features to make them more entertaining and not replacing anything.

We all have.

Read the posts before yours, use the search feature. It did not work, things went south, CCP made some mistakes, everything is focused on things that have anything to do with internet spaceships now.

Personally, and in a total non-sarcasm laced sort of way - it's a bit of a shame that the entire engine and rather decent modeling system CCP created for the whole WiS thing and WoD has pretty much gone to waste, and by the time they can do much with it - it will seem a bit outdated.

However, I think if you took a good survey of the EVE community - you would find most of them would rather CCP focus the developer effort on things that actually effect us in space, versus creating Secondlife 2.0 :)

Yeah, I see what you're saying, and on this we agree.

Yeah I hear ya here too, but I just dont see WiS as a productive way for them to go about preventing stagnation. I don't see what kind of "activity" we can have with WiS. Right now, if you wanna just hang out and bullshit with ppl, you use th4e local channel. Other than that, Ive never seen anyone actually suggest what, exactly, they want out of WiS.

I agree that we need to hope there's not going to be a big stagnation of content and thus players, I just don't see all the work that would go into WiS to make it a viable option.

This is one point, right. Another reason to pick things up and integrate it in a useful way. As said, this Character Creator still is one of the best I've seen. And its also designed that it easily could be enhanced with newer sets, clothes, etc.

Well, focal point of any mmo, pu, whatever is your character, your avatar, right? In what appearance ever. First, you were just a pic, now you have a 3d character which is most common standard form in any mmo nowadays.

The spaceships are a pretty nice tool to pimp and fight- but you aren't skilling them, what you do skill, is your character.

I am not sure in how far you are comparing a 3d avi with second life? Maybe you can explain that too.

Because building space-stations or PI's in EVE like building stuff in second life..wow! I would be in!

Oh, I know the definition of the word, I was just shocked by how much it sounded like a corporate meeting, just buzzwords strung alongside each other saying absolutely nothing.

Today I was sitting with my kids at the computer. After docking I went to the CQ. Walked around and my oldest one (4 years old) wanted me to sit down on the couch. Then the character started to do the funny walking. My son had a big laugh. Reminds me of the ministry of funny walks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV2ViNJFZC8

Now although I could think of some nice things with WIS, I'm afraid there are some people who really hate the idea. They claim EVE is about ships only. They forget they can also build stations, be station trader, be a gambler etc etc. Because those people are so loud mouthed I don't think CPP will continue WIS. Those people highjack EVE. It's a shame in my opinion. Because there are all kinds of people wanting to do all kind of things.

I started playing EVE, because it reminded me of an old old game called Elite. I started playing Elite because the whole concept of space travel and living in space is interesting to me. What it shows me, is that even in the future when we can travel through space, there will be those budheads who want to determine what other people should enjoy. Unfortunate.

Edit: Silly walks it is.
