I do however have enough information to know that 6 of my 8 accounts are now unsubbed, this account has 10 days left and my last remaining account which expires in 2015 will not be re-subbed. EVE may not be dying, but I'm out barring major changes. Have fun in your litterbox.

as I said, thread will be locked anyway, so what is your reason for unsubbing exactly?

The game is boring. The map is stagnant. The largest alliances are completely immune to any form of disruption. In this I guess art has successfully imitated life. Well I play games to get away from reality not to be reminded of it. Also too many kiddies peeing in the pool. Acting like a total and complete phallus is the only way to play. It's funny the first couple times and after that it gets tedious. I'm also not particularly attracted to being a jerk all the time myself, so I have no motive to continue.

i'll take your stuff too please =)

But in all seriousness, it sounds like you just need a new group of people. There are lots of non jerks out there, hells I tend to not let them in my corp. shrugs.

At least read my posts, I don't believe that EVE is dying. And it's been a long time since I've been really into the game, but I was hoping that the recent releases would reinvigorate my passion. As it stands I've been very disappointed with Kronos and Kronos 2.0... I mean Crius.

And as CCP has decided to keep their plans for the future expansions to themselves, I'm merely choosing to quit now rather than later. I'm confident that the game will survive my leaving, I just don't think it will survive another few thousand people who feel like me leaving, if it gets to such a point.

Nahh, I'll just let it sit. It's only a few hundred billion ISK - hardly worth anyone's time. Who knows, maybe one day CCP will make the game fun again which is why I'll keep checking in here once in a while.

Eve has been dying since 2003.

Your first post was to state that the game is currently in a decline, and that the relevant game-wide objective statistics are in fact irrelevant, because you can "ask your friends and get a good idea of how the game is going".

You then revealed that your reason for leaving, and by inference theirs too since you are lumping yourself with them as a group, is having done everything you want to do in the sandbox.

Any game is going to have a constant stream of people who like it but are simply done with it. Managing to 'only' entertain people for a full decade != EVE is dying.

Disappointment with Crius seems common, and I don't really understand it. Industry was one of those things like corporations, POSes, sovereignty that desperately needed work but was never going to get it because it's a core component of the game that would require massive work to redo. But now they've done it. And have furthermore stated a plan to tackle the others in that list in the relatively near future. I've come back to EVE many times, but this is probably the first time since Apocrypha than an expansion has brought me back.

haha EVE's use rate is down. You can see it on Chribba's graph. Really look at it. It shows a decline. I don't know if it's long-use, short-use, multi-use or juice use but one thing is for sure, the numbers do not lie and those numbers are down.

HOW DOWN? Well. To me not much. To a business man? Hard for me to say. I've seen investors freak over three percent. I hate to break it down like this, but you also have to take into account individuals have multiple accounts in this game like no other AND (big and here) they can be "paid for" with in-game currency. (That literally means they're not being paid for at all.)

SO...when you count, to get the answer you WANT, don't forget the numbers also speak for themselves. And, one look at Chribba's graphs SHOW the numbers are in decline. Fatally? Who the hell knows? Will they go back up? Who the hell...well, maybe. I can see them going back up.

In fact, I can see DUST taking off eventually, and paying for itself. These things we do not know till they happen. But, really. Don't say the numbers aren't down. They clearly are. And, don't pretend you know what this all portends. No one does. Just remember what Yogi Berra said:

"It ain't over till it's over."

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

*shrugs* I could be wrong too, but think about it. You have CFC with 15k or something players, if a lot of them are pvpers. not finding lots of fights, they might put there pvp alts in moth ball and play something else, that doens;t mean they are unsubbed, just not in use.

OFC I could really be wrong, but honestly the math which you can do, doesn't quite prove that. It shows eve with a decent income still coming. But what % is subs, and what % is plex sales and what % is dust/other stuff? no idea.

I think that maybe CCP has found a sweet spot to keep milking the remaining players so they get higher revenue per user. But that's a follow up of all their "growth" strategy since Incarna.

Probably they think it's temporary until they can release the Hallelujah Plan after miraculously cleaning up the large whale carcasses rotitng on their beach, but in the meanwhile the community is slowly disintegrating out of old age.

Also, they're steadily losing veteran players with each iteration, and there is no fresh blood coming in. As a potential new player, your best bet today is to start from scratch in Elite Dangeorus rather than try and overcome everything stacked against the noobs in EVE.

Whilst eve offline proves nothing about subs, it does show that less players are logging in.

What it doesn't show is the average time a player is logged on for which is an important statistic, one I would love CCP to release.

The other important statistic is how many actual real players are playing Eve.

Lets for example say we have 30k people logged in, is that 30k individual players or is it 20k individual players and the rest alts.

The alt ratio is another important factor we need to consider along with amount of time logged in.

As for subs, I do not claim they are down but you can not claim they are up as nobody other then CCP knows and they are not telling us anymore which right or wrong to many is an indication that they are down.

What I am interested to see is what effect if any the recent Revenant event has had on the PCU.

As far as EVE goes, its about as boring as they come and I am actually surprised alot are still around.

As far as fun factor I'd say I get more action than the average player, so I haven't the slightest how the rest of you survive and actually still sub being so afraid of EVERYTHING and having to blob up on EVERYONE and calling it pvp. Get out there and have some fun fights stop worrying about whether you live or die.

I have come to the conclusion that the breed of player that plays this game is the reason for its downfall, not anything CCP can do about it no matter what they change. Therefore the numbers will continually bleed out. Considering CCP's loss last fiscal year that's not good to keep the hamsters running #knowhaimsayin?

In regards to accounts the last official figures given that I can find for Tranquillity was from the last QEN Report from Q4 2010.

The figure given was around 360,000 accounts with 725,000 different characters in-game

The next was when CCP announced they had surpassed 500,000 Subscribers World wide in Feb 2013 however that figure included Dust 514 and the Chinese server Serenity.

So how many of those 500,000 Subscribers belonged to Tranquillity.. who knows.

Are still at 500,000 Subscribers today, only CCP knows for sure but personally I believe they are not simply because I do not believe that Tranquillity has gained more players then Dust and Serenity have lost.

On a side note, please CCP fix the damn forums, losing half of what you have written when you hit post and then having to wait the timer countdown to put it back in is getting really annoying.
