I invested 10.5 years of my life to this damn game, much to my wifes dismay. If you think I am leaving before the lights go out or they pry the keyboard from my cold dead hands, you are mistaken

I am by definition an EVE fan boi

If you would play on Singularity, you would see the lights going out for two times. Lol

Don't get me wrong, I do try other games, and I know that some games do bleed off subs, and some people will get mad at a change and leave. Some got mad at crius, some got mad at hyp. Some got mad at the drone changes in the day the day (I miss my damn 8 ogres in a thorax damn it) some got mad at the original missle nerf (I missed my cruise kessie for so long!) some at the titan nerf, the list goes on and on. But often a lot return as there is no other game out there like eve, and honestly never will be. SC is not going to do it, ED won't, nothing will. People come and go, the point is, we just don't have the tools to be 100% sure CCP has suffered any huge dip in subs. Its more likely that Dust failed.

+1, stop being so miserable people

Even when things are slow there's enough to catch up on and a squillion things to try. Honestly, I think when people get bored they are just being a tad lazy (I am) because no-one else is providing them content. That's a mentality issue, and it's really unfair on the people who do put in the effort ingame for others. Sov is broken, yup. You can still skirmish for lols, just make up a reason. Don't burn people out of game through exhaustion just to spoonfeed content, play for yourselves fgs.

It's really hard to keep people cheerful when things are slow ingame, and the forums seem to emphasise it (but often unhelpfuly). The Devs who remain (who are not management, don't lose sight of that) are putting the effort in, and it's not unreasonable to acknowledge that once in a while.

ISDs love EvE too I'm betting. I'd change that OP to something more along the lines of "EZWAL, DRINK THIS -*Snip* Gladly! But please refrain from personal attacks. ISD Ezwal.

ps +1 for will be here til they pull the plug. Being a fan doesn't make you a boi, and doesn't mean you can't be critical. No need to be a **** about it though. Unless you're an entertaining ****.

This, right here, is the very definition of 'EVE is Dying". Your very own sentence just summarized it.

I do however have enough information to know that 6 of my 8 accounts are now unsubbed, this account has 10 days left and my last remaining account which expires in 2015 will not be re-subbed. EVE may not be dying, but I'm out barring major changes. Have fun in your litterbox.

7 out of 10 here unsubbed. Not really sure why the other 3 of us are still hanging out...hoping for a miracle I guess.

This that follows kids, is called bordum at work posting, and non bitter vet going 'huh?'

why have you been unsubbing? I'm honestly curious

They're bored and have managed to convince themselves it's anyone's fault but their own.

no, mothballed and unsub are two different things.

Mothballing accounts, and going to long skill training, while you wait is not eve is dying, its mearly eve is slowing down. Its a normal cycle in games as in life, you hit points where thigns are slow and drag on, only to have them pick up later. EvE is not on her deathbed, she is merely watching tv alone on a sat night not feeling like hitting the club for the 100000000000000000th time. It happens. Big changes are coming, some will scare people who don't wan tto adapt or who see changes as bad. But in the end, a shake up will awaken the player base that is still chilling, which will cause the ones that remain to be active and bat phone there friends. There is a difference between rest and death.

eve-offline, and to invoke him to this thread, correct me if I am wrong oh eve god Chribba, just shows the average users online in a day. It pretty much takes eve's low point and its high point, and find the number in the middle. This mearly shows, that yes, less people are playing eve for a long period of time. This doesn't show loss of accounts.
Semi-correct yes, the longer period graphs are more average values, but random picked points in time (it does not aggregate periods)

Hopefully I may find a better way to graph stuff, perhaps daily max or something (except last time I did that it was VERY jumpy).

/c

Can you tell length of play session?
That'd be interesting. Well maybe not but I'd find it interesting.

Nope sorry can't see that detail

I don't care what eve-offline has to say, be it proving me wrong or right that EVE is substantially less active than previous years, I can ask my friends and get a good idea of how the games going. Almost all have unsubbed at least one account if they run more than a single one, more than a few have quit the game entirely.

Personally I have unsubbed 5/6 accounts, latest to go was my offgrid booster. My 'main' is currently not resubbed and now I'm just waiting out the next month or so.

I've quit a couple times, but I by entirely I mean given away their assets and/or biomassed. I'd say that EVE is generally harder to quit than most games, but biomassing/abandoning years of assets certainly helps to quit 'entirely'.

I'm quitting the game because I'm simply tired of it. I've accomplished/done everything I find interesting and it's left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't even get started on getting into a Titan, even those have become so common it'd be UNCOMMON to not see at least 3 die a month.

EVE is a sandbox, but I've thoroughly exhausted my imagination in it and the lack of new toys to play with in my sandbox make it the same one I've been playing in for 10 years. I have other issues with the game but they belong in a development forum, stagnation has lost me a lot of friends.

I certainly don't condone those who are still interested in the game, and I'd go so far as to say I'm jealous of you, but I haven't logged in and been excited to do something or other in a very long time. Mostly I log in to talk to people.

if its stagnation and bordem I still would not biomass, getting rid of assets might keep you away, but lets put I tlike this, say you quit and biomass, and are free. Then a year from now one of your old buddies heard a story and got back into eve because of some new toy or some huge change and goes "DUDE YOU GOT TO COME BACK BECAUSE OF *CHANGE*" and you are like "oh **** yea bud!" then you remember "oh crap I can't do xx for a while cause I biomassed.. mother ******!

;) and can I have yoru stuff? I'll take an additional 10 years of stuff and keep it safe for you =D

as I said, thread will be locked anyway, so what is your reason for unsubbing exactly?

The game is boring. The map is stagnant. The largest alliances are completely immune to any form of disruption. In this I guess art has successfully imitated life. Well I play games to get away from reality not to be reminded of it. Also too many kiddies peeing in the pool. Acting like a total and complete phallus is the only way to play. It's funny the first couple times and after that it gets tedious. I'm also not particularly attracted to being a jerk all the time myself, so I have no motive to continue.

True, I am often critical of stupid things ccp has done, or of their past behavior. I just find it funny that all the stuff people are whining about, are actually things I was hoping they would do ages ago. I.e. less talking of stuff not set in stone, and fixing old broken and outdated stuff
