Hello again!

1. Why do the positions of the chat and cargo windows jump from the bottom of the screen (where I always drag them) to the top of the screen every time I dock? Intended mechanic or bug?

2. I remember it was possible to sort objects in the overview window in the order in which they appear in game (e.g. to always have newer rat spawns and wrecks at the bottom of the list). Is that still possible?

Thanks

Welcome back!

1. I don't get this every time I dock, but very often. It's probably something that will get fixed as we get further into Crucible.

2. The answer depends on a few things. If you want to sort objects by distance, name, ect. then just click the bars that have those labels at the top of your overview window. If you want to change the priority of overview appearance (mostly pertains to players), that is in your overview settings. Click the three lines are the top of your overview window and go to Overview Settings in the dropdown.

If you hold control, all new items will appear at the very end of the overview list. Outside of that, no other way to arrange them based on order of appearance.

Well, this is bad indeed. I tried to make the overview look the old way, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I am pretty speechless as to why CCP would eliminate this fantastic feature. Simply heartbreaking.

I'll be frank, I don't recall it ever working as you described the overview, It's always required you to hold 'control' to lock your overview.

As for #1, obvious bug is pretty obvious.

Welcome back.

2. I have never heard of this, and knowing how the overview works, I'm pretty sure it has never been like that. As Borlag mentions, if you hold ctrl down, you freeze the overview, and any new overview entries will appear last in the list, but then the overview will reorder itself when you release ctrl.

Perhaps you're thinking of a different game? Anyway, Welcome!
You should play a Bard if you reroll. We could use a bard.

Oh, another one who sings in fleet?

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

so.. the workaround is to put something heavy on the ctrl button? ;)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

WB. you said "re-roll" so I had to stop by and give you a like. Anyone that makes DnD references is alright in my book.

Oh...
my...
God!

A Dev that says it never knew about a mechanic that used to be a game FEATURE! What the hell is happening to this game? Just to prove you that it used to be like that, here's a link to the very same question that I asked a while ago, nicely answered by a fellow player. By the way, Zewron was me.

I am guessing the fact that this doesn't work anymore has to do with the change to the whole .xml system. Anyway, bugger bugger bugger...

More like, a bug that was fixed, but a bug that used to be feature-like to your particular tastes Blink
Sounds like they used to forget to initialize a default sort order for the overview, so it fell back to object instance ID, and you would "lose" that completely unintended sort order by the time you selected any sort order at all.

You COULD ask to have object instance ID (or however else it might be called) as a new valid overview column and sort by it... although I doubt they will make that happen.

OK, after reading the old thread I now understand what you mean. The overview was basically never sorted *... I guess if this dev was asked nicely and not insulted, "it" could perhaps take a quick look at what happened to that.

* or the default sorting was just some random sort order that you liked

Is it common for eve players to make up features and rage that they were removed? What?

Those are the wrong two questions. Here are the questions you need to be asking:

Is AkJon always right?

Yes.

Is AkJon as cool in person as he is on forums?

No. He is old (40) and his brain has been abused too much to condense his brilliance into a useable format in real-time.
