Problematic PI Glitch/Exploit

Power Grid Glitch

Description: Changing the location of extractor heads on an extractor unit while still maintaining the same amount of extractor heads causes an error message saying that this would overload the power grid. This occurs even if there is more than enough power grid to add an extra extractor head.

Reproduction:
Command Center upgrades 4
Planetology 3

Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehNKnu-kCiQ

Exploitable: Maybe, Not sure yet...

Personal Note:
This will be the second time I have exposed the horrible truth about CCP and their broken creation known as Planetary Interaction. As seen in this video this glitch is literally preventing me from doing my planet stuff. Even when removing almost all the extractor heads I still get the same error message saying my powergrid is to jacked.

Request: I would like one of the following gratuities in exchange for my continued service to CCP in bringing them reproducible bug with comprehensive reports.

  • A Hot Pink Planet that is named after me
  • An isk reward for every bug reported by me and confirmed by CCP
  • Skill points to spend

Was that your first attempt to deploy a program after Crucible? Are your links upgraded ones as in pre-Crucible? maybe delete and re-deploy your links? Failing that fire all your materials to the Customs Office - delete all buildings and then build them again? Do not delete your Command Center however :)

I am quite baffled and just throwing you some ideas - i am clueless really.....

I have tin foil hat trained to 5.

Well by definition a bug like this can be considered an exploit because you are getting something that other players would not get who are not experiencing this phenomenon. This can give them an unfair dis-advantage as opposed to the normal disadvantage of PI in high sec space.

what are you getting that other players are not? an error message?

what's the sell price in jita for that?

really, I don't seem to see where you claim some sort of benefit to this state

if I didn't see it the first ten times.....

why don't you explain how its an exploit and how it gives someone an advantage, or is this an exploit by proxy whereas you are being exploited by people without the bug?

really, I see you saying that if you move heads you get an error message

It's an Exploit because it provides an unfair Dis-Advantage to the people who experience it in comparison to the people who do not experience it.

Exploits by definition only grant the one using them a benefit. As such, this would only be an exploit if you could cause this to happen to someone else.

If it doesn't give you an advantage/benefit, then it is just a bug. I.E. when the overview malfunctions and stops updating properly, it is not called an "overview exploit", it's called an "overview bug". When POSes start shooting blues randomly after a patch, it's not called an exploit, it's called a bug.

Anyways, revealing bugs and exploits on the forums isn't allowed, so you might want to edit your post. File a bug report if you want CCP to know about it.

Last time I checked their was an entire subform dedicated to bugs and bug reporting. The only problem is nobody uses it...

I also already submitted a bug report citing this thread and linking the youtube video of how to reproduce the bug.
