So we've discovered the new cloaking effect, so hawt.

Edit: More comprehensive video of the effect is up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OURVUmOlcw

Edit 2: CCP also released a video! This is hawt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Slrs2wn80

Do other people see that extremely clear graphic if it's on the same grid?

Not sure yet, we are currently testing it and will upload another video soon™. It might be a bit shiny and it may make it easier to go for a decloak bump now, we'll see.

Alright the new video is up from the Third Person Perspective. Gives a much better idea of how it looks.

Nice - (at work) can you show that same 3rd person perspective with the overview displayed as well? I'm curious as to what the timing is with regard to cloaking effect and representation on the overview.

I'm right behind you

There's no change to the mechanics, it's exactly the same as it is now, just with extra shinyness :P

This looks fantastic. It's much better in client than those videos suggest... at least on high shader quality. Sadly medium shader quality looks nothing like that, and medium shaders are so much easier on the GPU! I'm not too bothered about the shader quality difference normally but if we had fine grained control I'd enable just this one.

As far as I can tell, the mechanics are the same including fade time although the new animation may appear to be longer.

I'm going to need a new PC I think.

Oh so shiny Big smile

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

Oh, so better than a fade to ghostly wireframe. Now it looks like not a 2003 game visual effect. Shocked

It looks like the hull is visible longer than with the current cloak. Could this make it easier for gatecamps to discern the direction of a ship's warp?

Other than that, so very sexy.

As far as I can tell, the duration of visibility after initiating cloak is actually the same, it's just that the old animation was shorter than this fade time whereas the new animation is the same length.

Regardless, I'm going to need to change my underwear after that load I just blew.

All the excitement over this (and in my heart) finally forced my hand to create my first ever EVE frapsed video.
So thanks for that. It's on this topic. Check it out here if you want. http://youtu.be/A5Slrs2wn80

Wait... no... if you're viewing someone else's ship the texture should be invisible, not showing the hexagon pattern and then blinking the ship into and out of existence.

So is this an AFK cloaking thing?

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
