So I was thinking that running a lotto might be fun but I don't know if there is a certain protocol for making it trusted/safe for the participants. Any advice?

Imagine a lotto.

Now ask yourself if you would participate.

If yes, then you're on the right track.

If no, then ask yourself why, and fix the problems with your concept until it works.

Death Spank, this is very good advice to follow.

A few tips, though would be just generally the same sorts of things you would do for nearly anything you would do involving other players where the game's mechanics limit you.

  • Screenshots of prizes in your possession.
  • A trusted third party to act as an intermediary between you and participants.
  • Seperate holdings for entry fees and prizes.
  • Et cetera.

For it to be a truly successful venture, you need participants. The problem is that most people on the forums and in the game itself are very paranoid (and rightly so). If you want to bring them in, you need to minimize the risk as much as possible.
