I still get irritated when I hear a game or a movie using the same music Global Operations has.

One of the more annoying things, when having worked with this
Any idea where it might be coming from? I think sony made it, you can also hear it here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=eqRrTZA5bfE#t=42 at the 0:44 mark it plays off.

I've been scouring the internet for various sound packages, none of them had this thing. I think its roughly 30 seconds to a minute long, I heard it first during the Ironman Movie website while it was 'under construction'

If you manage to find it I'll owe you five beers.

Let me check it these links when I get home from vacation :)

Some reliable Sources has told me that all the sounds in EVE is recorded when CCP get drunk and eat "Hákarl", or "kæstur hákarl" (rotten fermented shark). The aftermath of these feasts, is a culinaric Collection of strange sounds when their bowels turn and twists.

The wilhelm scream is more of a gimmick now than used seriously, but it's the same with the Imp sound from Doom, totally. Very over used but still a nice sound.

The wilhelm scream.... there should totally be an option in the sound menu turn that on for pod kills. xD

When the music from X series and the sound effects from Asteroids love each other very much.....

Too new to be a source of EVE sounds, but my nephew was watching a film the other day called Agent Fox, and in that he used a scanner which made a sound that sounded remarkably like an EVE sound (IIRC it was the scan probe scanning sound).

Like, the probe scanner sound in EVE - try looking at the map in Watch Dogs.

Wow, I thought I was going nuts. I was watching a LP run of Watchdogs from a Creature and when he went to the map, I was like "Hey, wait a minute. Something fishy is going on here."

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Having heard the probe scanner sounds before is no wonder. They are from the most used telemetry sound library

Iv seen that aswell,
ironically enough my kids woke up in the middle of the night while I was scanning down bears to flip
and told to get off eve and watch something with them,
so I try to put thoughts of shinaniganising mission runners out of my head and one of the first sounds I hear is the same one I'd been listening to for an hour and a half beforehandX.

who does the voice of Aura anyway?

i'm curious who you got to sound so bored saying things like 'warp drive active' and 'capacitor is empty'

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.

It will have come from the same sample CD. There's a squeaky gate opening sound that I've heard in countless movies, exactly the same sound, utterly ruins the immersion, but then I am a total nerd. The samples on the cd will have been recorded from real life or in a Foley room. Movies with huge budgets (and movies before samplers) may choose to have someone perform the sound effects.

No they won't, you'll still hear the most over used sounds in the biggest of budget movies. Using library sound is IMHO completely unavoidable in modern production. Creating everything from Foley is one solution, but believing that big productive with big money create their own sounds fun scary all the way is very naive.

And before samplers, sounds editing was done on tape machines, and libraries of sounds were very much used and that's the entire reason why the Wilhelm scream was in several movies before it became a joke

I said they *may* choose to have sounds created performed and star wars and the transformers franchise are just two examples of movies that have employed sound designers and foley artists to create and perform unique sounds rather than rely on library sounds. I certainly did not say that big budget films will never use sound libraries. I do however take your point about tape splicing.
