1) It is a Goonswarm propaganda site, pretending to be a 3rd party news website. They constantly release biased articles to help promote themselves resulting in a large segment of otherwise ignorant readers to have a rather skewed view of nullsec politics.

2) Goonswarm are rampantly homophobic and racist. This thread says it all. By supporting the site you support a homophobic and racist culture within EVE.

3) Special treatment for special people. They ban people for using hate speech in the comments section and delete the comments.... unless they are a Goon. Then they do not get banned and do not have their comments deleted. In fact, the person calling them out on it typically has it happen to them instead.
Let's not mention ALOD articles. If you are a Goon or a friend, you can make horrible ALOD worthy mistakes and have it completely ignored. If you are not a Goon or not a friend, one mistake and you are featured.

4) They release poorly reviewed articles. From missing facts in battle reports to outright falsehoods like the article on the EVE server and the powergrid, there is very little in the way of professional review.

5) Sperging articles. So many sperging articles. Example? Every single traffic control. We wants news, not the opinion of raging homophobes.

6) The owner of the site - who profits from our visits - is a cyberbully. He prepared a powerpoint presentation - while sober - in order to will a player in EVE to kill himself in RL. Are you really satisfied funding the livelihood of such a man? You are funding his life and his racist, homophobic alliance each time you visit TMC.

I have held these opinions for a few months now but continued to read TMC as the alternatives were mostly rubbish (EN24) or did not update with the same frequency (CrossingZebras). At this point I believe the quality of TMC has decreased too substantially however. When combined with the special treatment of certain members and illogical application of rule enforcement and moral stances, committing to a boycott becomes the obvious choice.

If you agree with the points here but do not care to boycott the site, do consider using an AdBlocker or related tools to ensure the profits from the site are minimized. It sends the right message.

on a serious note this thread will fill with tmc backers and the usual cfc parrots that will attack you for posting with an npc alt instead of actually reading your post and constructively debating it.

It's not like I'm wrong.

Goon members use hate speech as imaged in point 3 constantly on that website. Yet you can observe moderators quoting others and giving them warnings and/or bans for the saying the same things.

That's TMC for you. Special treatment, delusions, projection, propaganda. Oh, and homophobia. So much homophobia.

If you are an adult with an ounce of self-respect you owe it to yourself to boycott the website.

Funny enough, I didn't even touch on the fundamentally disrespectful nature of many of their writers, even when ignoring things like racism, homophobia and the like. Consider Mittens article about Marlona Sky recently. Dedicating a large portion of an article to outright insulting a community leader in EVE because..... he had a different opinion about sov than him. Roll

Anyways that's really not even the half of it. We're talking EVE Online, people talk smack, it happens. It's the delusions, the projection and the propaganda that really put the nail in the coffin.

It's supposed to be a news website, but instead it's mostly a collection of neckbeards chest-beating to one another while sperglords jerk eachother off in the comments section.

It doesn't. That said, if hate speech goes unchecked and unpunished by leadership, then that's a pretty deplorable ship that you're running.
