Offline Towers

I'm sure this isn't a new idea and my search for another thread on the topic was fruitless, so here we go.

Can we please implement a method to unanchor and remove abandoned towers?

As someone who spends a great deal of time in WH space I am constantly finding towers no longer in use. At least allow the intrepid explorer to collect these discarded objects should they have the means. And don't just limit it to WH space, put the onus on whomever deploys the tower to keep it fueled or they'll lose it.

If I'm missing something, please educate me.

Makes sense to me, I mean why can't we hack into an offline tower and steal it... it is offline.
I am cool with long time delays, and even require a war deck for a high sec tower, but give us a tool to clean up all these towers, and make a little isk on the side.

My corp actually has a large number of low sec off line towers, and we would like to see something like this too. What happens is a corp member puts up towers for their own use, then gets bored of eve and stops logging in. The towers eventually run out of fuel. The rest of the corp does not want to take them down because the member who put them up may come back (it has happened) and want their POSes. And we do not really feel like hanging around in low sec for a few hours unanchoring stuff. But if they went away due to actions by non-corp members, that would be fine. However so far no one wants to sit in low sec shooting our towers for a few hours.

Anchoring a hacking module next to the POS seems like a good idea. One or two days later, the POS unanchors. The owner could always blow the hacking module up if he wanted to keep the POS, or fuel the POS.

I Agree,

One day i was scanning a system and decided to see what i found, i knew it was a POS but was offline.

I would had love to be able to hack the tower, be able to assign it to me or the corp.

At the moment, the tower are kinda free and if no one clame it,s tay there forever.

Make us be able to hack towers (the down ones) and offer another way to make ISK and have corporation check theire towers.

Sounds good. There was another idea along these lines in some other QQ thread about towers.

essentially myself and one of the others hashed out an idea that you could hack towers, but only after 30d of being offlined -- which corresponds to the 30d GSC thing. Now, explorers wouldn't know whether or not a tower was offlined for that 30d window unless they flew up to it and tried. If it was offlined for less than 30 days, you would get a very specific "can't do this" message, if it was older than 30d and you failed, you get a message more along the lines of "hm... maybe if I tried...". Success means the stick and any modules anchored all unanchor (so you'd better have haulers ready).

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Yes, that would be very good and i am with the 30d period.

What we need is hacking and be bale to un-anchor them so we can do as we please.

When you put up a tower, its at risk of being destroyed even if it is offline. Now, I don't know if you know but amazingly their is this thing called Shift + Mouse Click, Wait, Hit F-key, Wait, Wait, Wait....BOOM! and Bob is your uncle. If its shut down, you are not at risk of repercussions and its not rewarding the owner. There is no need for you to take possession of a tower because the owner forgot it, they laid "claim" to that moon and well it is theirs so long as that tower is there. Destroy the tower and move on, FFS its what a dread is used for and its better if a POS is lost from EVE instead of rewarding lazy ass players like yourself who are not able to get your ass in gear to remove them in the first place.

without resorting to bringing in BPCs and waiting a few weeks, hos is someone going to get a dread into a C1-3? How is someone gonna use a dread in hisec?

maybe you don't want to destroy the tower because it's faction?
