No serious... did you even thought about that one? Lol

What competition?

I'd only switch from EVE if they would let me translate my massive stockpile of PLEX into gametime for the other game.

This thread delivers.

I'm not sure what yet, but it made me sign for it then ran away giggling.

I think it delivers the clap, but I'm not certain. I'm off to get tested.

I prefer to play in front of my PC

And I have yet to find a game which can compete with EvE.

Maybe if you could suggest one, I would leave as you seem to want.

FTFY Twisted

*The same genre means open world PvP sandbox, and thus does not include Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous, the only thing they have in common with Eve is the setting.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I stand corrected :)

FTFY.

The single-shard element is important to mention because it's a big part of what makes EVE, EVE. Nothing is instanced.

I will play Star Citizen when it comes out, because... Freelancer.
It will not replace EVE for me, it will only supplement it.
I'm polyamorous when it comes to games... I'm fully capable of loving more than one at the same time.
EVE and Star Citizen do not offer the same thing, and for that I will love both of them even more.
So no, EVE will not die because of alleged 'competitors'... because there are none.

Elite: Dangerous ftw.

Sorry, but it's already laying the smackdown on SC. But you're right, as much time as I've spent on Elite, I've spent twice that on EVE. It's not competition to this.

Eve will always be special to me. For the game, for the tears, for the ragequits, for the community. I honestly don't think another game is going to provide for me what she does. Yeah, they might have better graphics or better this and that, but the people in EVE are a serious part of what keeps me playing. I love the stories, the tears, hell... I even love our trolls... when I'm sober enough to recognize them for what they're doing. Did I mention tears? As a former ragequitter these are important to me... as they are either the epitaph of a departing member of the community who could not hack it, or the galvanizing temper which brings a bittervet to becoming cold hard iron which seeks the hearts of their enemies. I seriously doubt another game could inspire the degree of emotion that this one can... and if they do, well, bravo.

Because the stream is run by twitch, they decide what ads run when they run their ads. Its the same as idots saying they are seeing banner ads for porn on sitez dealing with kids, it because your cookies say you visit porn sites.

Archeage seems to be interesting in that regard, without space of course. But it does have pirates, and ships...
