Haven't seen this posted or discussed but I know many of us who live out here have shared this thought.

Why in gods name is the friggin End of Life stage of a wormhole so long ???

Seriously, 4 hours give or take ? This should be changed to an hour IMO, or give us some way to measure more accurately a wormholes stability time and mass wise.

Le hush. I like that four hour window when things go wiggly.

Six months in the hole... it changes a man.

But the problem is that when you find an EoL hole you have no way of knowing where in that 4 hour stage where its 'at' , short of being there to see it happen.

Even then, with wormholes being "..dangerous and unpredictable.. " - as I've been told by numerous GMs - I've seen the EoL stage go upwards of 6 hours.

When in doubt, keep your ass out.

Simple rule to live by.

Six months in the hole... it changes a man.

I dunno, maybe the 'simple' people over in TU are happy with sitting around EoL holes with no way of knowing when it'll pop.

Myself, I'd think that since we're all space shippy and have, like...instruments and warp engines n' stuff, we could somehow measure or guage a WH and not have to sit around with our thumbs up our arses like a bunch of chimps.

Maybe thats just me....

24 hour hole stay eol for the last 6 hours
16 hour hole stay eol for the last 4 hours

At some point people will stop being dumb and realize that eol is not random, it's just (1/4) the max lifetime which is especially hilarious in the 48 hour holes

Dude, it is UNKNOWN SPACE ...

I don't really know what else to say other than why expect your car to fly?

The 1/4 of wh total life rule of thumb is at best innacurate. Since moving out to w-space I - and members of my corp - have seen holes last well into 8 hrs after going EoL, as well as having brand new holes drop closed the moment we've gone thru them.

And the whole "dangerous and unpredictable, unknown space " argument is one tired old filly, put her back in the stall. Good grief, we're supposedly in spaceships and such, not a friggin Model T Ford.

I'm just picturing the ship crew conversation....

" Oi cap'n ! Wormhole of the starboard bow sir ! "

" Excellent work Percy, now lets just dive on ...eh...whats the matter old son ? "

" Can't do, cap'n sir...Wobbly she is ! "

" Eh...Wobbly ? "

" Exacly sir. Even confirmed it with the ole' Mk XIII 'Wormhole Wobbley-Meter' ...Seems she's to be in this state for some time sir. "

" Goodness ...How long Percy my lad ? "

" Easy sir ! She'll either close ..NOW !...NOW !!!..uh...or maybe in about 6 hours or so, give or take a few hours, given her wobbly state of being, sir "

I have to admit the chap has a point (and a funny one). That said the real question would be.

"Does really anyone care enough to want it changed?"

Personally I kinda treated the whole wobbliness as an extra (intended) feature of WH space :) Makes things more interesting.

Edit: Then again it's not that random if you note down first time of encounter or last lifetime change time. You can usually take an educated guess that's pretty damn close even if you/corp/alliance hasn't noted spawn time. "Map your own Wormholes" feature :P

Spider Pig! Spider Pig! Does what a Spider Pig does.. Can he swing? From a web.. No he can't. He's a pig.

I would be really pissed off if they made it any shorter. When I haul stuff out to high sec, I assume I'm safe to spend up to four hours away from my wormhole. If the EOL time was any shorter, that would cut down the amount of time you can reliably assume that a wormhole is still active.

I don't want wormholes that were not EOL to suddenly collapse an hour after I passed through them, just because you're impatient and want the timer changed.

If anything, having an extra stage would be kind of nice. Something like, "This wormhole is starting to wind down, but is not end of life yet," and "This wormhole is end of life and will most likely collapse within the hour."

Something like that would be good.

Def better than the current 'any second to 4-6+ hours' thing we have atm.
