Hi

I know this may be an old discussion to you guys but I only got back last month and I also think that enough time has passed since the drone revamp to get better opinions.

I fly almost only Gallente ships, so drone boats and drones are the stuff I use most. And my question is related to PVP (small gang).

I am still using the usual Gallente drones to do damage and the Minmattar to catch speedy stuff.

Do you think the Ammar / Caldari drones are any good this days ? Are they worth it now ?

The Ammar drones do look very nicely overall.

Thanks a lot

Acolytes are better than Warriors now except when it comes to catching things over 6km/s and the Caldari drones are a good mix. I prefer to use Amarr/Caldari over the rest

The meta is still largely the same.

You want raw damage? Go Gallente drones.
You want speed and tracking? Go Minmatar Drones.
Caldari and Amarr drones fall somewhere between these two things.

When you use sentries though things are a little different. Gardes (Gallente) for short range, Curators (Amarr) for long, Wardens (Caldari) for SUPER long range.

I will offer a disclaimer and say that there are exceptions and edge cases (prove me wrong guys!).

Acolytes operate as a catalyst for Crow genocides.

There's actually a fairly narrow range where Curators are superior to Bouncers, all else being equal--the tiny falloff on the Curators means that they lose damage very quickly after their optimal, whereas Bouncers can shoot out a very long ways.

In the old drone meta, Caldari and Amarr combat drones (non-sentry) didn't really have much use; Gallente drones did much better DPS, they weren't nearly as fast as Minmatar drones, and they didn't have sufficient range or tracking to compensate for this.

Now though, there's a much better continuum match between damage, tracking, and speed. Caldari drones do respectable damage and are a bit faster than Gallente drones, while Amarr drones go reasonably fast and do a bit more damage than Minmatar drones. I now tend to use a mix instead of always just keeping a spare flight of Warrior IIs around for pesky 'ceptors.

Agreed, although Hobgoblins with a Drone Navigation Computer do it better. Blink
