Executive Confirmed Dead As Habitat Explosion Kills 3000
Umokka - Lonetrek -

The culinary supplies franchise Shiny Morning have confirmed today that their Chief Operations Officer Imris Kalaanen is confirmed to be among those killed in a catastrophic decompression event in system in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The incident, occurring just after 02:00 standard time at the unlicensed “Wicked Lady!” off-world resort, has left at least three thousand people dead. Investigators have confirmed that the majority of those killed appear to be women, foreign nationals, without any known corporate affiliation or a valid local system entry permit.

Shiny Morning have attempted to distance themselves from the reports by explaining that COO Kalaanen was on annual leave at the time of the incident, and his presence at the establishment was not at the behest of the company. A spokesperson has declined to answer questions on whether Kalaanen's death will affect the franchise's planned expansion next quarter, though the franchise's shares took a vicious tumble as reports of the incident emerged.

Authorities have so far strenuously denied rumors of capsuleer involvement in the explosion, though unconfirmed reports suggest the presence of an unidentified battleship in the immediate vicinity at the time of the event.

An investigation into the nature of the resort and possible criminal sponsors is set to take place once Space Patrol engineers have stabilized the structure.

Intaki Space Police Accused Of Corruption As Jewel Thief Escapes Custody
Poitot – Syndicate

The Intaki Space Police have strenuously denied accusations from some commentators that their own correctional officers assisted the escape of a notorious jewel thief from a high security facility in Poitot this weekend.

Konrad Danieux, himself a former Space Police communications technician, had been three years into serving a fifteen year sentence aboard the high security Taus Zero-Nine prison ship. Commentators have expressed skepticism that Danieux could have managed to abscond from custody without assistance.

“There's no way this guy breached the door to his cell, bypassed no fewer than five separate checkpoints, and incapacitated the shuttle pilot and her staff all by himself,” said one source on condition of anonymity. “If you ask me I think the governor had his boys take Danieux for a walk to see if he remembers where he left something.”

The Poitot Precinct responsible for personnel rotation through the corrections convoy declined to speak to Pod Press directly. The precinct's press office released a short statement from the division commander only to say that a manhunt for Danieux is under way, and that anybody with information on Danieux's whereabouts should submit a report to the main office through Galnet.

Danieux had received his sentence for his part in the theft of the Tear of Nepthys from a Heimatar museum late in YC 112. The Tear, the largest natural azure diamond ever discovered off world, was never recovered.

Ruvas Splinterz Team Gain Anonymous Sponsor
Ruvas - Lonetrek

The veteran local Splinterz team Red Four has announced that they will renew their registration for the forthcoming tour after all in a surprise press release to their Galnet supporters association.

Once thought a potential candidate for the Karnola constellation league, Red Four were forced to retire early last season as their sponsorship from Rapid Assembly was abruptly terminated.

While Rapid Assembly did cite a number of contractual violations due to some instances of the team's conduct in league matches, critics have long maintained that it was the mid season nomination of ethnic Gallentean Yolande Tomosin as team captain led to Rapid Assembly's decision to cut ties with Red Four.

The announcement from Red Four was brief:

“Attention Reds – letting you know that we've got some new friends giving us one last shot. See you at the arena next month. Don't forget, wear RED”

The team have declined to comment any further at this stage, though speculation as to the identity of the sponsor continues.

AMAZI... oh wait, no. Who the hell are you and why aren't you Gutter Press? This is no place for actual news, silly. Keep it up though, just to shake things up a bit.

Excessive auditing is never excessive. It prevents exactly the OP from happening.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

Without Interstellar Correspondence functioning at any real capacity, one should not be surprised that any interstellar niche be filled.

"I say that even as the holy and the righteous cannot rise beyond the highest which is in each one of you - so the wicked and the weak cannot fall lower than the lowest which is in you also.  And as a single leaf turns not yellow but with the silent knowledge of the whole tree, so the wrong-doer cannot do wrong without the hidden will of you all."

This is a colossal security breach.
How did they manage to let whole 3000 peoples without affiliations and permits to enter State space? They could easily be gallentean terrorists, spies or other sort of enemy agents.

Connection with illegal personnel might mean that Mr. Kalaanen could have worked for enemy, and, I hope that the corporation security will take all required measures to study this case and shut down possible hostile activity.

I am myself rather interested in development of this investigation, and if the security will need capsuleer services to remove entrentched illegals, I will look into what could been done.

You have rather long gallentean-supporting tongue, did it get stretched that far by licking gallentean assets?
